Challenge the Bills

While Ben Johnson would have been an interesting HC choice as well, I think the choice of Vrabel is looking better all the time.
Absolutely agree. Being a great offensive mind is nice. But running a team, a staff, calling all the shots is alot different. Vrabel has been there and done this at a high level.

For Vrabel, having a year off, assembling a good staff, and having a young QB will propel him to an even higher level. Really hard to think of a better HC for us at this point.

Agreed on all points. I even went as far to say I believe Vrabel in totality is the best coach in the division.

The Bills are going to waste Josh Allen by keeping McDermott. He just doesnt have that "winner" energy... I can't put my finger on it, but watching the way he addresses the locker room, their roster decisions, playcalling... he just doesn't have it. Good, solid - but not great. You need to be great to win a SB.

We might not be able to compete for the division for a couple years, but a guy like Vrabel is going to have a higher ceiling than a McDermott.. I don't think it's crazy to say New England will win another title before Buffalo does - unless they can McDermott.
I have this same feeling.

I don’t see how you can say that the coaching sucked. Before every game Jerod Mayo held a team meeting where he clearly instructed them to “ Go get them guys.” I mean seriously what more can you ask a coach to do than that?

Agreed. But the NFL is a sport where a team can become contenders from one season to the next. We've made the commitment to becoming a contender. We have a HC and OC with championship pedigree. I'm not so much overconfident in saying this.. but I feel like we could challenge for the division. After seeing the leap Washington made last season I have high confidence we can become a contender.

Yeah.. I mean never say never. If we can stay healthy and take the home Bills game anything can happen - lot of work to be done though to get there.

I think Drake's 3rd year is when we will truly be back. This offseason we plugged a lot of holes - next year we will be able to attract premium FA talent if we're a wildcard playoff team with a proven stud QB and likeable HC with good team culture.

And next draft we will also be able to go after a real blue chip player in R1 if there's one when we pick, as we won't be handcuffed by need as we have been lately.

I agree. However I think already having Drake, and then hiring Vrabel and Josh we've already Accentuated the process. Guys will define thier roles in camp battles. Everything else will be determined between the hashes. We will definitely be a contender next season.. when I say contender meaning a team that no one wants to see, and be in pursuit of play off seeding in the AFC. The team has already taken on the identity of Vrabel and that's huge!

It would be a gutsy move to replace McDermott, and not sure who out there would be better, but there have to be better HCs to help the Bills get past their rapidly closing window.
Kliff Kingsbury is a guy who comes to mind. Someone who could get the most out of Allen and relate to him better...
