Thats a misleading statement. "If he were on the field, then maybe he would stretch the field".

I'm hoping he is able to, but you can't open up the field from the sidelines.

Ocho was open on the 53 yarder because of a blown assignment by the jets. There's just no way you can be that open on a normal coverage by Revis.

It's exactly what he did, although I will admit that I agree with sly24's statement that he did not beat Revis, and that it was blown coverage. The writer is claiming that Ocho "stretched the field" for N.England by helping to create space for the other N.England WR's (forcing the NYJ to back off), which is exactly what happened. He did not mean it literally, as of course he could not stretch the field from the sidelines.....


All in all, it certainly didn't hurt to help open things up for a while. Here's an exact quote from the article:
