It changed because Tom Brady, who is like a son to Kraft, went whining to Kraft about feeling insecure about his chances of retiring as a Patriot given BB's reputation for ruthlessly trading aging veterans and BB's obvious affinity for Jimmy Garappolo. That's why Kraft got involved, because Tommy was whining. And BB knew Tommy went whining to the owner and BB's response to that was to throw Brady's guru Yoko Guerrero off the team plane and the sidelines during games.
For those of you who don't believe there is more to this than meets the eye just ask yourself 2 questions:
If Belichick knew he was getting rid of Garappolo midseason because Brady was playing at a high level then why did he trade his other backup QB Jacoby Brissette for a bag of footballs just weeks earlier??
And if Belichick knew he was trading Jimmy Garappolo during the season why didn't he shop around for the best offer.....because he didn't shop around at all.....he called up John Lynch and only John Lynch and traded JG for a 2nd round pick.
Here's the real question going forward - who is here longer, Belichick or Brady??
At the beginning of the season this was not an issue. I believe it is now.
