Celtics playoff run: drive for #18

As much as I love him as a player. Jalen Brown is a liability in handling double teams. Also he drives me nuts with the jump then pass stuff.

Green is a menace....and it works.

Time to match the BS.
Brown and Tatum both get caught up in the air too often without an option.

Green is a joke. Never has one man been given so much credit for so little production.

I haven't followed the NBA much at all this year but I know that the Celtics are the better team.

In 1984 I was 35, had been married for 7 years and had two children. Sh!t I'm old.

I laughed this morning when I heard someone again downplay the titles that Russell won because there were less teams. Someone should tell these clowns that less teams means more concentrated talent. Even in Russell's last season, when he was a player-coach in 72, the Celtics/Lakers final had close to as many HOFers playing as they did in 84.

Now let's look at the current teams in the finals. How many HOFers will there be in that group, 1 or 2 maybe?

13,909.
Steph for sure.
Tatum is on his way.

Draymond is an idiot. He has no idea what he is talking about.

There was Texas Justice back in the 80s and 90s. Once it got out of hand the league had to step in.

My bold prediction is that the winner of tonight’s game will win the series. Don’t see the Warriors coming up from 3-1. And I think homefield will become a big factor if this becomes a 2-2 series

While I sympathize and largely agree with this about the Russ years, I'd say that two is the absolute minimum number, more likely 4 or even 5 HoFers in the current series.

I've actually thought about Klay and Draymond. Winning titles raises the profile for sure.

If this C's team wins 2-3 maybe Brown and Smart along with JT

Yeah, I think Klay will have a good shot. Draymond won't sniff the hall. Brown I think is a good bet. All he's done is get better every single year.

Draymond is a 7-time All D 1st teamer, 2x DPOY on a 3X champion.

I tend to agree he'll fall short but I think he will garner some support.

Celtics have to make sure they limit the Warriors 3rd quarter..

Jimmy Butler is still giving me nightmares. Any team seems like a good matchup after he became Michael Jordan the last few games. No matter how good your defense is, in the NBA there’s no way to stop someone like that. Dude was hitting every shot despite being doubled constantly. Nothing against Curry, but he can’t break a defense the same way a guy like Giannis, LeBron or Butler (playing at that level) can. And note that these superstars have eliminated the Celtics in the past. Curry is incredible as an off ball player, but GS needed in the fourth for an alpha to iso up and score…the Celtics were jamming the lanes and making it ugly.

I’m optimistic because I think GS lacks a traditional scoring threat who constantly make plays and goes to the rim to draw fouls. That was Durant and why they were impossible to stop. That’s why the offense wasn’t as pretty with Durant but they were still much tougher because going into ugly, disrupt defense mode didn’t work. They’d just iso him and win that way. But even other guys like Thompson and Iguodala back then were better as iso players and not totally dependent on ball movement and spacing. GS has a lot of good shooters but if you break the passing flow of their offense, they don’t have 1-on-1 guys who can beat the Celtics defenders. They’re still very good, but I think we’ll see a lot of streaks and runs and big lead swings.
Ad Philly let him go, it is still a head scratcher.. Butler liked it here but as he said, " they picked Tobias Harris over me".........
Tanking and the process and they have little to show fo rit.... Couldn't happen to a nicer team...

Klay doesn't have the numbers and Green doesn't have the profile.

Tatum can possibly make it but Brown will have to significantly up his game.

No way on Smart.

I wish Curry would keep that mouthguard in his mouth. He keeps popping it out and chewing the damn thing.

Curry was a beast today

The Celtics weren't physical enough with him. As usual, they let the foot off the gas after a big win and Udoka needs to somehow correct this.

How much credit does GS deserve for Tatum's 8 for 23 shooting and 6 turrnovers last night. For the series he's shooting 34 percent, what do the Celtics need to do to improve his offense?

Truth is, RW, that very few players get into the Hall on defense alone. Draymond might get a coupla votes but will fall way short. And Smart? Hes not remotely close. No chance. Curry and Tatum only current players with a real shot. If Brown steps up.his game and plays at a higher level for another 5+ years he might have a shot.

I can't imagine who beside Curry is a potential HOFer.

Defensive stars need titles and multiple individual awards to get in. The HoF has a few of them.

Rodman
Ben Wallace
Bobby Jones

Is it rare. Yep. Possible if Smart wins titles and a bunch of DPOYs? Yep.

The Celtics are the best team in the league but they have had stretches of poor decision making and getting ahead of their skiis that cost them games in these playoffs and now they have a big hill because they have to win 2 of the next 3 and they will need to win at least one on the road. This team is so good, but they didn't make it easy on themselves at all during this playoff run.
