CB / ST player Kyle Arrington re-signs for 4 years

I wanted Talib + another corner so Dennard could move to the slot, but if it's Talib + Dennard I am OK with that, just don't want Arrington having to play outside.

I feel the same way, which is why I want Talib plus one more to at least compete with Dennard for the #2 spot. For one, I don't want to rely on a second year corner without a backup plan, and two we're GOING to have an injury to a CB at some point, and it would be better to not have to move Arrington outside in that case.

As long as he is playing slot and being paid like it, I am ok with the signing. He is not an outside CB though.

The Pats needs depth at that position and he is a good star (the position, not the talent level) CB.

as long as we resign Talib and a #2 guy on the outside i'm fine with keeping arrington...hes a solid slot corner but ABYSMAL when playing outside guys

For the record, Arrington has the ability and quickness to blanket the likes of Wes Welker in the slot. We've seen him have some success against far more explosive players than Welker namely Victor Cruz in the Super Bowl. Though for the Denver match-up, who's going to cover Thomas and Decker is far more important to me at this point. No offense to Welker fans.

Reminder: He went 10 straight games to end the season without allowing more than 50 yards in a game. He does not suck.

(But yes, a lot of that was in the slot)

Well Crabtree smoked him for about 40+ yards to beat the Pats. I recall him getting burned one other time in that game as well. Collinsworth was saying they needed to replace him at one point during that game.

I think thats a safe assumption unless We are giving him starter money


I echo the sentiments of most he is a very good slot corner and a very good STer there is more than enough room on this team for players like that. I just do not want to see him covering outside the numbers vs number 1 and 2 WRs.

The real question now if the market for starters is down what does the market for back ups and sub defenders look like? I will wait until I see the numbers for a real response to whether I like this or not.

omg that could happen as soon as this upcoming season!

He had some good games in the slot nobody wants to see him outside. He lead the league in interceptions at one time so he really isn't that bad.

Arrington gave up two catches that game. There was the 38 yard TD on a 7-man blitz, and a 6 yard slant. That's it.

It's not a rumor. It's mostly a fact, and you'd know if you watched the Patriots play this season...especially in the first half of the season
