Can we criticize the defense now? Is that allowed?

Agreed. Do not get why people are defending him because we've have bad defensive drafts. The man's been here for 14 years, DC for six--you don't think he's had any say-so in the drafts??
I'm actually a big fan of Patricia's and think he could make a pretty good head coach....but today he lost the super bowl.

When the Patriots have something to play for, it's always ameither..azing. They just didn't have as much fire behind them as before.

Fire? Brady Did everything a human can do to win the game.. Defense is why we lost. They play flat and where out coached.. Poor tackling didnt help

Oh blow it out your ass, this BB is untouchable and above reproach **** is getting tiring on this board.

IT DOESNT MATTER WTF THE SITUATION IS WITH YOUR #2 CB, SHY OF HIM KILLING SOMEONE, YOU START HIM IN THE DAMN SUPERBOWL.

No amount of BB ball washing or mental gymnastics is going to convince me that this wasnt one of the absolutely biggest blunders in BBs coaching career.

What is getting tiring is morons like yourself running your trap when you're completely f'in clueless about pretty much everything.

The fact that you think it DOESN'T matter what the situation is with Butler shows that you've NEVER EVER been a manager in your life and you don't have the first clue on how to handle people or an organization.

The fact remains that you don't know wtf was going on with Butler and to sit there and attempt to judge the situation when you don't have the facts makes you a complete imbecile.

Look we can manipulate this in a million ways, but the reality was 40 y/o James Harrison was our best front 7 guy and our beloved coach decided to bench our #2 corner for what? Whoever built this roster gets the failure. TB covers so many holes we keep giving BB a pass!

41 points & over 500 yards.

What you said seemed to be in reference to their tackling, not the overall.

BTW, let's forget that 14 of the points were gifted to them by the refs..

Clement's TD wasn't one since he was bobbling the ball and didn't have control when his left foot hit OOB.

Foles TD wasn't one since the outside receiver wasn't on the LOS. But why let facts get in the way of a good BS session.

If anything this game should silence the entire Brady Vs. Belichick garbage, Brady this year at 40 has carried the entirety of this team, all the way to a damn Superbowl.

His coach decided to get arrogant, Bench Butler for God knows what reason, during the Superbowl, and the end result is Justin Richards and Elandon Roberts getting absolutely shell shocked trying to cover people they just arent capable of covering.

Well we are limited by what we know. Do you have some inside info? BB said before and after the game it was football related. If there was some major disciplinary issue why was he even in uniform?? He was in for as many snaps as anyone on D as anyone all year and today never got off the bench.

Someone who just bases their statements on the YARDAGE stat has no business talking in a football forum. It shows how you don't know wtf you are talking about.

BTW, SFBs, here are where the Pats have ranked (just on yardage) since Patricia was the DC:

2016 - 8th
2015 - 9th
2014 - 13th
2013 - 26th
2012 - 25th

8th and 9th aren't "middle of the pack" as you claim.

The Patriots had the following Scoring defenses: (points allowed)
2017 - 5th
2016 - 1st
2015 - 10th
2014 - 8th
2013 - 10th
2012 - 9th

That's a much more important stat.
So is the fact that they were without Rivers, Hightower, and Butler tonight on defense.

I'll say this again, because I said this before the game that I expected a loss because of the poor Patriots D, but the offense has been hiding how bad this D has been all year. Barnwell was absolutely correct that the D was put in such advantageous position by the offense. Bad field position for opposing teams, fewer possessions. The great offense helped this defense with their low points against total.

Sadly, I was not surprised by what transpired tonight.

SMH..
Yes, because whomever built the roster should have expected:
- Alan Branch would work himself into the doghouse and never get out
- Derek Rivers would suffer a season-ending knee injured during TC.
- Hightower's season would end prematurely.
- Shea McClellin wouldn't be able to come off the IR
- Cyrus Jones would blow his knee out
- Malcolm Butler would do something to get benched

You only have so much money to go around. Do they need to improve? Sure. Every team does. Even the Eagles. But let's stop acting like they went 3-13 for the 3rd consecutive season. They lost in the SB because they didn't play their best game.

NO ONE, not even Butler, can say that his being on the field would have changed the game from an L to a W. The game just would have been different. No one can know how it would have been.

OH. Harrison wasn't the best Front 7 guy tonight. Contrary to Collinsworth. Van Noy played a better game than Harrison, but only barely. Neither was perfect.

Brady was amazing and his passion showed. For the most part, the rest of the team didn't have that extra 'push' behind them. Hopefully a SB loss paves the way for more SB wins in the future.

Well running a vanilla 4 man rush most of the game really wasn’t effective either.

the eagles lost their best player wentz as well as their best lineman in Peters. losing wentz is almost the equivalent of losing Brady for us. it worked out fine for them.

We have given up 40+ in 3 of the last 4 games against this Andy Reid style offense, including 2014 when we had really good defensive personnel. It is our kryptonite
