Cam seems like a great human being. His day is done at QB. The only way this happens is get enough weapons to make Harry the #5 WR. Not going to happen.

What if Bill takes him back after a strong camp/pre season. But when the games count its back to the same problems we saw in the second half of last season. I just dont think this will work out , but then Cam has a season on the playbook and a new comer starts from scratch ?

Newton is better than, in our view: Patriots quarterback Jarrett Stidham, Jaguars quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Mike Glennon, Broncos quarterback Drew Lock, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, Washington quarterbacks Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke (and Kyle Allen, whom we didn’t specifically mention), Bears quarterbacks Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky, Lions quarterback Jared Goff, Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, and 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.


We flagged two as toss-ups: Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

heres the thing, cam newton says with a full OTA, offseason and better weapons he would be much better here. He probably would be much better.

The more concerning thing to me is that it appears his shoulder strength got worse as the season went on. just from a purely physical standpoint, later in the season he seemed to lose touch on alot of his passes. Now, is this just what has happened from all the shoulder surgeries?

Cam newton also is a guy who is a former MVP. its tough to say "yeah im done" when you are only 32 and know what you have accomplished in your past.

I wouldn't be happy with Newton back under any circumstances. He can hit an occasional pass downfield and scramble and gain yards running the ball but he’s incapable of maintaining drives and can’t hit a back out of the backfield to save his life. Other than Brissett I’m ok with Fitzpatrick, Mariota, or a high pick at QB, but I want nothing to do with Newton for another season.

I have to imagine after being with Brady for 20 years Bill knows a good QB when he sees one. I’m hoping he’s just being nice to Cam, deep down he’s got to know he sucks.

He was a good leader. The team loved him despite his issues. I would be fine with him as a one year bridge to a drafted QB but it does concern me about the impact that has on signing talent on offense. Maybe they could target the draft for WR and use their cash on defensive pieces and a TE.

I agree and appreciate his effort, good locker room guy etc. He is a good guy I like him. But I would take Dalton/Mariota/Trubisky easily over Newton. Newton looks done. His mechanics are awful and i don't have much confidence this will get significant better. Still like to see a rookie no matter we sign cause neither Trubisky/mariota/Dalton or whoever the qb will be, did look more like a bridge qb
