not sure this is a good move, he was a disaster in the Philly game

He was…but he has a higher upside and isn’t at the point of certain failure. The team could always go back pickup Folk or a guy comparable to Folk if need be. They made a mistake when they released Koo and then couldn’t get him back.

That's Bedard, and he's got a good point.
Agreed and they pounced all over it to set themselves up for future takes. Not that they ever really need an excuse to manufacture something down the road.

Felger's gonna Felger. It's why I wanted to hear this hour of the show. Felger will now be using the backup QB situation as his ***** point, and I find that very amusing.

Lol they're already hedging their bets. "I am glad they did it and it was the right call but Bill opens himself up for second guessing if it doesn't work with Mac".
Translation: "I am glad they did it so we can fling feces at Bill every time Mac falls short of perfection".

For those who've not followed Bedard on this, I should make clear that he was adamantly opposed to Newton coming back as the starter. So some of his effusive praise for Jones may be a bit of a product of that. Note that I'm not saying it is, for sure, and am just tossing it out there as a possibility.

But the first 6 losses were by a total
Of 21 points … defense and special teams could have helped with a few wins..
But I don’t think fans are happy losing by a little.
That was my point. the argument was charger fans were happy.

Thank you for taking on the huge responsibility of carrying Greg Bedard's water on this board.

That trade made no sense for the Jags. Trade away an experienced, competent, inexpensive backup for peanuts. I feel like most teams in the league would have made that trade with Jacksonville.
They cleared the deck. Minshew was popular in Jacksonville, and a struggling Lawrence might have led to a split fan base or locker room.

I have alot of respect for cam and I get no joy out of him losing a job........but I'm beyond excited mac is the starter. It was the right move to make and I had doubts if Bill would make it. My excitement level for the season just sky rocketed! Let's go!

Had to have been something like that or Minshew wanting out. Otherwise Urban was just shooting himself in the foot.
