Player Signing Cam newton resigned 1 year deal

I don't know how he got an unfair chance. He got the same chance every other QB in the league had last year.
Are you upset that a Patriot player is biased when it comes to one of his teammates?

Upset? No this is a football team. I don't get "upset" by anything it does. I think it is stupid to claim that somehow Cam didn't get the same chance that the other QBs in the league did.

Joining a brand new team at the end of June is tough, certainly for a QB.

No other QB was signed at the end of June. Every other QB had a full offseason to learn the team’s offense and gel with the players. Thst includes Brady.

Not thrilled with the signing, but it really was trial by fire for him last year.

Well trying to look at this through rose-colored glasses......

With a CRAPPY group of skill players, no real off-season, an underachieving defense, a bunch of key players opting out, having gotten Covid, against one of the hardest schedules in the league, Newton managed to win 7 games. Give him a year under his belt, improved skill players, key defensive players returning, and no Covid, against a much easier schedule (on paper), maybe he can get to 10 wins? Possible?
I’m going to hope like this. This upcoming draft/FA is all about getting pieces for 2022 with a rook QB learning for a year and getting our opt-outs back. Unless Buffalo and Miami take a step back we’re not realistically competing in 2021 unless the Pats are a surprise.

You guys confuse the dread of having an offense with no WR or TE with Cam ..

Guys, Cam wasn't the reason the offense was horrible .. UDFA WR's and no TE's was

I figured that our coaching staff would carefully review all the film with a fair mind.
All of the factors would be considered including no spring program, missing time with Covid, and a weak supporting staff.
I did not anticipate them coming to this decision.

Picture this; you drive a nice Acura. It is a nice car but it is no Ferrari. Then you slam it into a telephone pole and total it. Your insurance company sends you a check for $500 and all you can afford is a broken down Ford Escort. What good is your insurance?

Who do you suggest the Pats should have gotten for an insurance policy if they want Garoppolo and may miss out on him? Who is going to want to sign a one year deal for like $5-6 million plus incentives, many of them are not going to be met, knowing there is a possibility that the Pats get a better QB and they end up on the bench? Anyone good enough to be guaranteed a starting job ain't signing up for that.

He never gelled because he can't play. He was out there throwing a pick 6 on a screen pass. I can't imagine that happened because he didn't get an extra month or two in April and May.

With a longer offseason now, I fully expect Cam to reduce his bounce passes by 40%.

Why do we need to sign a guy for peanuts? I just don't understand why we sign a guy who clearly can't play anymore just because he is cheap. There really is no other QB in the league that played last year that I would say Cam is better than.

Count me in for the Trey Lance hype train now. As if there would be a better fit somewhere.

Actually, it was both.

Cam had AWFUL throws all year long. He certainly was part of the problem.

However, as you said, the lack of weapons was ALSO a problem. Good thing we have plenty of cap space and draft capital to attempt to fix that part of the problem.

Everyone now wants to give cam the benefit of the doubt cause Bill resigned him. Nobody here really wanted him back lol, one of the worst starting qbs I’ve seen in a long time.

if he comes back and shines or even improves a bit I’ll eat my words and admit I was wrong.
