I get the competition thing but nobody ever brings up that with Jones.I am having a hard time spending #15 on a kid with 17 starts at ND state. I get he's supposed to be the dude, but that's pretty risky. I'd feel better if he was a 3 year starter with a couple of major bowl/playoff appearances.
I don't want BB to get creative in the draft. BB being creative in the draft is why the team is in the position it is today.Hopefully, the clonazepam wasn't in response to the Cam signing.
It might not be round one. They may have their eyes on a sleeper. Cam is an $8M "minimum requirements" investment.
By Wednesday, the market will be full of talent. Sign Andrews, Guy, another DT, a TE, a WR, and a LB.
That'll allow them to be creative in the draft.

A pretty good take on it all.
Cam struggles could be COVID related. I know several people who had a mild case of COVID and their energy level was crap for like two months after they recovered. One friend got winded if he walked around the block with his wife and he isn't out of shape.
If Cam was affected that way, maybe that is why he couldn't throw the ball at all.
I can absolutely see this being true. Cam would probably see some action.Patriots need a backup for when JimmyG gets injured.
You could do a lot worse than a guy who went 7-8 as a starter last year.
I mean you could have ten years to learn a system. Until he shows me he can actually not throw a football 3 yards into the dirt in front of the receiver my opinion of him being trash isn’t going to change.THIS. Cam has had a year to learn patriots system and work with McDaniels. Any of the FA QB's (except JG) would have growing pains in year 1 with a new system. The long term play is to trade up and draft high potential QB
That's the thing. Even if Belichick is intent on Garoppolo and still thinks that the 49ers will eventually try to trade him, he needs some kind of insurance if they don't.
Yeah he must have designs on a QB in the draft. Jimmy or Cam, yikes. Take your pick between a pile of **** or a pile of puke.LMAO
But it may not be the end. Signing Cam removes almost all leverage SF has over them for Jimmy. They'll probably be forced to cut him now. Then Bill can try to get him on a better deal.
Even if that does not happen, though, if Bill surrounds Cam with significantly better players the team will probably be at least decent. Hopefully they will draft a QB to redshirt this year also.
Great point.Exactly.
That's why those "JG is plan A" columns of the last weeks were so braindead to me. How can someone where you have zero control over his availability be your plan A ?
Cam's completion % was more about the receivers than it was CAM. And I have yet to see anyone explain how COVID made Cam's throwing so erratic..This is an interesting reference, thanks for sharing. For as much as we dump on his shoulder, his completion percentage wasn't really bad at all. He had to play too much "hero ball" with the dearth of pieces around him. I am willing to be optimistic for now if they can get a guy like Curtis Samuel + more, and if they draft a QB...

These are the only ones I'm allowed to share. Lance is a fantastic prospect. His mechanics, pocket presence-awareness/feel, arm talent are as good as anyone in the class and better than most. He's only 20. He needs help scanning the entire field (mainly progressing from left/right across the MOF) Mechanics can get a little sloppy on certain passes. Timing could be better on a few passes. He's so good though. Again though + Poise, pocket presence, decision making, arm talent, leadership, toughness, play making ability/versatility all at 20.
Picture this; you drive a nice Acura. It is a nice car but it is no Ferrari. Then you slam it into a telephone pole and total it. Your insurance company sends you a check for $500 and all you can afford is a broken down Ford Escort. What good is your insurance? That's the thing. Even if Belichick is intent on Garoppolo and still thinks that the 49ers will eventually try to trade him, he needs some kind of insurance if they don't.
I'm referring more to his mindset than his actions. Specifically thinking of his last drive against Buffalo in the first matchup that looked promising but resulted in a fumble. Stuff like that.Cam's completion % was more about the receivers than it was CAM. And I have yet to see anyone explain how COVID made Cam's throwing so erratic..
Cam didn't have to play "hero ball". His horrible defensive reads, his late throws, and poor decisions are what led to that.
