Patriots Player Departure Caedan Wallace released [UPDATE: Traded to Dolphins instead]

This is some twisted logic here. And you're remembering things wrong. McVay wanted him in the 3rd round (that's not a late round).

But foisting the disastrous Polk, Wallace, Robinson picks on Belichick takes the cake.

Again, Wolf had 105 days to do something.

By the way, can you find me a draft in which Belichick had 3 reaches in a row especially picking so high (top of each round?)
It is why I can’t feel confident with Wolf as our GM in title. I hope he doesn’t have final say in picks.

The Pats had the Eagles over a barrel with AJ Brown and still caved in the compensation, including sending an additional 5th round pick.

I better GM would have negotiated a better deal for the Pats.

Interesting - little more than a swap of draft picks but we'll take it. Just kindof funny that we had to give something up in trade but better than nothing.
Given the quality of the teams involved, it's more like a late 5th for a late 7th, I hope

The Pats didn't have the Eagles over a barrel. The Eagles could have waited until the end of the preseason to trade Brown (or even possibly the trade deadline although unlikely) and then Brown and Maye would have had to spend the start of the season just getting on the same page. Wolf threw in the fifth to get them to trade Brown right away rather than wait until the first week of September. You can argue it was too much, but Wolf had to give up something to get Brown right away after the June 1st date.

And there are speculation the fifth round was also for the Eagles not to file a grievance with the league over the Vrabel/Russini thing and possibly tampering that way. I don't know if I believe it, but there is speculation out there from semi-legitimate sources like Florio.

The Eagles wanted a 2027 1st and day two pick. They got a 2028 1st and a 2027 5th. That isn't bad negotiations especially when you compare it to what the Bills gave up for DJ Moore or the Broncos gave up for Waddle.

I like that they got a lot of extra picks next year in what many think will be a historic draft. Wish they were higher than sixth rounders, but those sixth rounders will give them ammo to move up if they want.

Getting anything for a guy who can't play is worthwhile, I don't care how 'negligible' you deem it. You decided to comment.
I said nothing regarding the adequacy of the compensation. My disagareement is only with your assertion that the deal "deserves a toast to Highsmith and Cowden," which seems ridiculous where the compensation is as close to negligible as this. Apparently you are so touchy that you have a need to take offense over the gentlest of disagreements. Happy to provide an occasion for you to indulge this need.

The way I look at it, you get anything for a guy you already announced was being cut is a big win (at least relatively).

BTW, what is with Miami picking from the Patriots' trash for o-linemen. They already have Cole Strange. Usually if you are going to pick from a team's trash heap for o-linemen, you choose a team with a top o-line.

I have to assume that they didn't think they could convince him to come to Miami as a free agent if he was given the choice to go anywhere else.
He would not have been a free agent, he was subject to waivers

I believe Strange signed with the Chargers this past off season
