AND I would've done better than Wolf because I sure as heck wouldn't have drafted Polk and Wallace.

Isn't the signature of any Belichick draft whether picks hit or not. Belichick was famous for reaching for players. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. For every Logan Mankins, you had a Cole Strange. I mean Sean McVay mocked the selection of Strange real time saying they had him rated as a late round pick.

You are stating that the 2024 draft was more like a Belichick draft where they selected players that people had rated significantly lower than where the Pats selected them. The last two years for the most part, you don't have that happening.

They wanted to move him to guard because they didn't think he was a tackle. But when their starter got hurt (Shelton), they shuffled him over there.

Using a guy who was going to get cut to move up a round is excellent. Not to mention the Dolphins suck so the beginning of the 6th round is ammo to use to move up in the 4th round if you want to trade a 4 and a 6. Good move

I have to assume that they didn't think they could convince him to come to Miami as a free agent if he was given the choice to go anywhere else.

It's college. It's not the pros. You can get away with stuff in college. I'm talking about what the coaches thought of him.

Let me give you an example: Layden Robinson played in MORE games than Caeden Wallace in college. And for 3 years was the starter. He's been out of the league for a while.

I know for a fact that the coaches were dissatisfied with Wallace and wanted to move him but Drew Shelton got injured so they stayed with him.

This is some twisted logic here. And you're remembering things wrong. McVay wanted him in the 3rd round (that's not a late round).

I think the trade was originally reported incorrectly. I now see the trade noted as "The Deal: Miami sent a 2028 sixth-round pick to New England for Wallace and a 2029 seventh-round pick", so it is a pick swap which I anticipated.

McVay said pick 104. That is in the fourth round. Pick #4 in the fourth round that year. Anything day three to me is considered a late round pick when comparing it to the first round.

I am not foisting the picks on Belichick. I am saying Wolf was using Belichick's system and scouting, but is par for the course for every regime change. It happens with every team. Not Belichick's fault per sea. It is the fault of the the circumstance. When one regime is fired, the next regime even if it is promoted from in house has to use all the scouting work and systems of the past regime.

Wolf had a spectacular offseason but of course you won't give him credit for that will you. You probably give all the credit to Vrabel or Ryan Cowden (who reports to Wolf). Vrabel gives Wolf a ton of credit for last offseason. But it isn't just one guy doing all the work anyway.

The fact is Wolf radically changed how the scouting department is running. He added a ton of analytics and sports sciences that Belichick didn't use and vastly grew those departments. He changed how the team graded prospects. He increased the number of area scouts which Belichick used a very thin staff. He changed how the Patriots value players and what skill sets they are looking for. You cannot do that in 105 days from when he was given the keys to the car. It takes years to build up a staff and systems like that.

If this year's draft is another success like last year's draft was, people will forget about Wolf's 2024 draft. Well, everyone but the haters who will never give him any credit.

EDIT: I forgot Cowden doesn't report to Wolf. His position traditionally does, but not in this case.

Yeah, they can trade him for a future UDFA!

You're not going to get much in trade for a 6th round rookie.

Nor is there going to be a ton of interest by other teams signing him if he's cut.

The good news is he should clear waivers and be available for PS if he is cut, because he's likely on the bubble.
