"whatever it took to be a champ"

sooo you don't want to win anymore? Seems like a poor choice of words heading into free agency, teams are going to see that quote and immediately think, wow, this guy no longer wants to do whatever it takes, he wants to be a 4 down player even if that means losing, or if we don't have him in on every play hes going to be disgruntled.

The Patriots will lose all of their top free agents.

Last 24 hours certainly hinted Exodos of biblical proportions .. then again - its the nature of Champion teams and partly also BB philosophy. It's not only about money: when big goal is achieved, when one climbs to the top - it changes perspective (for most people).

On the other hand it seems that players look at Patriots like they are Tiffany's - a place to go when you need a ring. While it is beneficiary to both sides and gives Patriots key leverage .. it is also somewhat annoying..
_

Be as it may - I go by what Lombardi said a week or so ago: what BB will do this offseason might not make the 2017 team better but it will certainly make 2018 team better than it is now.

Howe with some bombs this morning.

Cool. Ultimately not surprised on both Ryan and Harmon, they both really seem to like it here, like the culture, and always screamed Patriot-type of players. And ultimately wouldn't be surprised if they walk anyway because their offers will be too much for what the Pats are willing to match.

Really happy to hear that they're deep in negotiations with Branch. After Hightower he's probably the most important free agent on the defensive side.

Least surprising news of the day.

Once I saw his age coming out of college (wasn't it 25 or 26 or something?), I was prepared for a short career for Vollmer. Too bad it's ending up even shorter. I wish the guy good health moving forward, football or not.

Some soothing news after Exodos hints yesterday.

Here's another good news . maybe not the sexiest and not a surprise . but still nice to see the little giant (bench press record holder on Pats team) coming back..

No debate how important he is.

They need him

Great news. He's what I call a "plug guy". Not a lot of national attention, but his blocking was part of the reason for Blount's 19 TDs last season and much more.

He was 24 when we drafted him in April '09, but he was due to hit 25 by the start of training camp.

Bengals the first to jump on the Ryan train. They may set the market, and they do tend to be stingy. Pac-Man could always return too.

Nothing against the poster but he is missing the boat on what JD brings to the run and pass game.
Absolutely nothing against the poster. He seems great. I've just been teasing him about it lately, that's all.

Only if you're @cupofjoe1962. He doesn't seem to be too impressed.

Actually, I have my doubts too. Looking at Blount's snaps during 2016, it stood out that his carries behind Develin were notably unsuccessful. Whether that was Develin's fault for not opening the hole or Blount's for not getting there in time I don't know, but the hole seemed to close before Blount got there. Just my lying eyes.
