I look forward to seeing Logan sign a huge deal, get cut after 2 years by a team that has no ****ing clue how best to utilize him and then seeing him come back here on a team-friendly deal.

Ryan will get paid as a number one and fail miserably at it. It would behoove his agent to accept a lesser deal from NE if it's good money (which I'm sure it would be).

Hightower to Oakland would be priceless as they a) aren't going to be as good this year as last, and I was high on them last season. I'm sure HT signing a massive deal in Oak would make Mack happy. Not. So go for it Oakland.

Bennett will go somewhere where we then hear stories in TC about fights and he will spout off post game after the losses pile up.

Why do you think that Mack wouldn't be happy to have Hightower there? Mack is still on a rookie deal and can't renegotiate yet.

Also, I think that Oakland adding Hightower to Irvin and Mack would make that LB Corps one of the best in the league..

because that $16MM might be more than he would get over the next 2 years and gives him a lot more immediate money THIS season, and protects him against having a bad season or an injury filled one that would affect his potential earnings.

But you are right, IF he plays as well this season, and IF he remains as healthy as he has been, he would probably make more by simply playing for his tender this year and cashing in the next. Personally at his size and the aggressive way he plays, I'd take the $8-10MM up front over the $4MM he'll get. We all know that in the NFL, every player is one play away from a career or season ending injury.

I would think that he would get more than $8M-$10M up front. I would be surprised if his guaranteed money isn't twice that. Even if there is only a guarantee for 2017, I would expect the total of his bonus and 2017 salary to be at least $16M. Don't you?

No. He's likely to see a split signing bonus with some this year and some next year. That's how the Pats have handled extensions with players previously. I would expect guaranteed money and salary to end up in the 12M range for this year and 17-18M for next year.

If he gets no RFA offers he gets 4 mill this year and is free next with a worst case of over 15 mill on the tag.

This rarely ever happens.

N0. In the end he's still a CB who has had one just good year and one very good year. He is also limited by his height, so he can't always cover the "big WR". He's 5'9 and 190 tops. He's a kid who is making the best of what he's been given. I think if he WAS an UFA, he'd be worth in the 10-12MM area. But he's not. He's a RFA and no one is going to give him even that kind of money (if you think 10-12 is low), AND a first round pick. So all they HAVE to give him is the $4MM tag rate.

All I was posing a possibility to reward the kid for being such a bargain the last 2 years. With something more than the 4MM he'll get, but less than the market price I believe he's worth IF he was an UFA.

Didn't you say in another post that butler has consistently graded out as a top 5 corner?

I saw that chum in the water and knew that it wouldn't be long before someone else responded.
There is that. Ha. I think the Bears try to lock him up anyway.

Is this supposed to me a snide response? Tell me, is anything I wrote in the post you quote inaccurate, or misstated? So do you have a question or are you just being argumentative.

FA predictions:

We sign one of Brandon Marshall or Adrian Peterson (dare I say both lol?). Dola restructures. Hightower pulls a DMac and comes back at the last minute, Butler signs his FA tender. Ryan leaves we draft his replacement in a deep CB class. If we sign Marshall we draft Blount's replacement (possibly McCaffery?). If we sign AP then we bring back Floyd. We draft a couple of edge rushers as well. Bennett leaves and we draft his replacement in a deep TE class.

I presume when we tag Butler with the 1st Rd tender, no one is going to counter. Would be expensive with cap and draft capital.

I would take that FA any day of the week.

Not snide at all.
I'm interested in your opinion. You said he consistently graded out as a top 5 corner. I was curious at the time where that grading came from but wasn't going to pick on semantics.
But now you are contradicting that.
Just asking for clarification.
