Buffalo Bills Safety Jairus Byrd trying to be traded

So in one thread, McCourty is a better player than Dez. And in this thread, Byrd is extremely overrated!

I love it!

Re: Re: Buffalo Bills Safety Jairus Byrd trying to be traded

My 'analysis' is what I see when I watch him play.
Once again judging defenders by stats is shaky at best, and taking someone elses created numbers and using them out of context is worse.

Your analysis doesnt seem to be based on much of anything other than the fact that he plays for not the Patriots and 'mah gut'. I'd love to hear how I used "someone elses created numbers out of context." Is this phrase supposed to mean something? Is there some strange combination of 'someone else' and 'created numbers' that in your mind inherently invalidates analytics? What context do you think these were developed for exactly?

Note that you are judging a safety by metrics qualified with:
limited to only the plays that are net positives for his team

I'm not extremely surprised he ranked well in that regard, but you are ignoring all of the negative plays.

So did you not read the sentence after or are you just not able to comprehend why this doesn't matter?

My assessment of the player is based upon watching him play football.
Yours appears to be based on someone else judging him on certain criteria. Those stats are not intended to be a full assessment of the player, which is what you are using it for.
Its fine if you wish to rely on someone else creating a formula to assess a player but I choose to watch the game.

No I comprehend that it ignores poor plays. I do not rate a DB who makes a high amount of "good" plays along the way to getting beaten often as a good player.
I think all plays count.

Considering I didn't post in that other thread, you seem to be confused.
