Bruins 2024-2025

Was at the game last night. Other than the slow start and lack of focus for the final few minutes of the 2nd period that was one of their best games of the year.

And it wasn't even a Saturday Matinee game.
A couple of positives from the game; Swayman was consistently playing deeper and for the second game in a row McAvoy looked like the 1 D-man he's supposed to be.

Saw Hampus Lindholm is now participating in practice without a non contact jersey. He's projected to be back after the break, fingers crossed

Sway was very good. McAvoy looks like he has lost some weight. Face looks thinner.

Did it seen to you that he was playing further back in the crease and then coming out to meet the puck more than he has been of late? Sometimes that's not the easiest thing to judge on TV but it certainly looked like it from my den

Not sure.

We were sec 6 row 6 ( net was to the left of us) so kinda tough to tell but general observation was he was always in prime position for stopping rebounds. Kinda tough to tell on tv.

It seems like far too many times so far this season he's been playing more at the top of the crease, opening himself up going side to side. Hopefully we're seeing the start of a trend where he plays a bit deeper. Fingers crossed he'll find his game

poor loss against Vegas. Don't know what to say. I found it interesting that the crew on TV (PK Suban and team) said the same thing we have said all season...this Bruins team is made up of the same players i.e. the same skill set. Not counting Pasta, they basically are 2nd and 3rd line guys that have similar skill with no variation. They are all average skaters, average shooters, not at all physical etc. Thought it was telling when they mentioned it. Somehow they are still in the playoff hunt but cant imagine they advance because they have been trying to mess and find their way all season. They need to be sellers and keep a core they can build around. I don't think anyone is confident that Sweeney/Cam can rebuild a franchise.

Once again the PK did the B's in yesterday. The last penalty against Zacha wasn't one you'd expect to be called at that point in a game but it was and the B's last place PK failed again. It seems a team built from the net out would be better in a shorthanded situation than this. Penalty killing is fundamentally about scheme, discipline and intelligence, things that for years where considered strengths of Bruins hockey. Once again I'm left shaking my head, where's the Bruins hockey gone? When a team sucks at killing penalties, maybe it should stay the hell outta the sin bin. Unfortunately for them, Boston is the most penalized team in the league. That's a recipe for disaster and the results have born it out.

This roster has too many players playing stupid hockey and as a man once said, you can't fix stupid

I had to turn it off yesterday.

One of the problems with the PK - besides the fact that our Defencemen & Goaltender are totally overrated - is that the 4th line, unlike in good old days past, is not the primary PK Forward unit, even when Johnny Beacher is active; heck not even anyone on the THIRD line kills penalties either, besides maybe Freddy... Except when one of them was in the Box himself, the pairs up-front yesterday were Coyle & Marchand and ZaZa & Eurotrash... I know I haven't watched nearly as much over the previous 32 years, but I cannot remember a Bruins team using the members of their 3rd & 4th lines as penalty-killing Forwards LESS than this one does.

If they're both dressed, then Beacher & Koepke should be the first Forward pair on the ice to kill penalties. Think Campbell & Paille, Kuraly & Nordstrom... Heck think Sanderson & Westfall...

Clearly the B's are not going anywhere. I really hope they sell off their assets to acquire youth and draft picks, bring in fresh blood for the front office, and hire a new coach (or at least have a legit search). Siht, since I'm dreaming, might as well ask for new owners too. We had a good run of competing for a few years now, but something has gone wrong and there needs to be a shakeup. I'm ready for a rebuild/change.

Might be a lot to ask of New Englanders, B's, Red Sox, and Pats all going through growing pains, but so be it.

You hit on something there, sort of a back to the '60's feel to it now. The Celtics are our only year in year out championship contender. OFC the difference now is New Englanders have come to expect to contend in every sport. 1st world problems I guess

Red Sox aren't going thru growing pains. It's the fans who are learning accept the new norm of being uncompetitive while the team is run like an expansion team.

The one thing B's fans can console themselves with that Sox fans can't is there's no doubt the Bruins organizational goal is to win a championship. The B's spending hasn't paid off but it's there, year after year the team spends to the cap. They may not be accomplishing their objective but it's not for a lack of trying. God knows they're trying. Heck, they're about as trying as it gets.

Yep. Spending is not the issue. They are just building the team wrong.

Damn it to hell

I had been hoping I would enjoy the 4 Nations tournament, but it just hasn't sucked me in. Now this makes me even less interested in the stupid tournament. I feel like These types of tournaments are much better at the amateur level, like when the Olympics used to be all college players (except for the Soviet teams).

I hope he heals up and is ready for next season. Tough year for him.

As much as I've enjoyed this tournament this is a kick in the sack.
