Thought it was going to be one of those games where the goalie steals one from the B's. Four in a row is nice to see heading into a tough road trip.Today's win was the first time in Sacco's limited tenure where I felt maybe the Bruins have legitimately turned the corner. They got down two to a Philly team they had arguably outplayed to that point. Instead of folding the tent the B's picked up their game, hit everything in sight and kept outworking the Flyers to the tune of three unanswered goals and a win in OT.
If a team from Canada ever decides to win the Stanley Cup again, I hope it is the Jets. They just might do it this year, they are a really good team. One of the best (I think the best) Dman in the league, great goaltender, offensive firepower is there. This is a damn good team, however, they are not a team that should beat the B's 8-1!!! WTF, that was embarrassing. That was a miserable loss. The Bruins played competitive hockey for a few minutes, then their penchant for taking penalties rose up as did their indifference. Swayman flat out sucked, he gave up a couple of the softest goals a Bruins goaltender has allowed in recent memory and that was it, the air went out of them and other than more than holding their own in the fisticuffs department teh rest was a big sreaming pile of ****.
Yeah, Swayman sucked no two ways about it. Have to wonder if his wallet is weighing him down. That doesn't excuse the rest of the team, minus Marchand who was still going full tilt, throwing in the towel.
Got a text from a puckhead buddy asking why I though they didn't pull Swayman after the 5th goal. Normally when a team's #1 goaltender is getting shelled you pull him either to send a message to his underperforming teammates or to save his confidence. In this instance Swayman was the one underperforming and by a lot. His bed, let him sleep in it. Just maybe it'll wake his up because he didn't play like an $8 goaltender never mind an $8M one. At the risk of sounding like a member of the family Stone, screw him he sucks and this team is not going to do any better than tread water until Swayman gets his head out of his ass.

I wish I could make the time to watch Morrissey every night.Hellebuyck is as good as it gets, a generational talent in net. Morrissey is a great two way D-man at the peak of his game. The Jets lineup is solid across all 4 lines and the core of that team has been together for awhile. They are formidable and capable of beating an opponent on the ice or in an alley if that's what it takes, none of that excuses the B's peeing down their collective leg tonight.

Didn't they get their asses handed to them when Debrusk had the game winner a month ago? Perhaps they lack focus?Tonight's game was one of the better total team efforts of the season. Great 1st period, they were on Vancouver consistently. Weathered the home team storm in the 2nd and avoided the self indulgent / lazy penalties that have been killing them. The one goal the Canucks got was a stop Swayman should have made but other than that he was rock solid, particularly in the 2nd when Vancouver was pushing good to see after the pasting he took in Winnipeg. Pasta's legs were moving tonight and it produced a 4 point night. Nice team win, hopefully something to build off.

I just peeked at the standings, after the first two losses on the road trip I figured they had fallen back in the standings, but I am shocked they are still in the #3 spot in the division. It's a bit deceiving because of the extra games they have played over TB, but still, as bad as they have been, to be in the playoff picture is making me feel hopeful. Another goal scorer would be nice, maybe they will be active at the trade deadline if they can stay within the playoff picture.Great come from behind win in Calgary's building and they don't lose often at home. Even down 2-0 and then 3-1 they kept their legs moving, cycled well and stayed above Calgary's forwards in the neutral zone. They also had 0 penalties, that's not a typo. Only one penalty called on Calgary in the game, refs let the boys play. Plenty to feel good about in this one. Two very solid games in a row against good opponents, maybe something's building. Not holding my breath but things are looking up... for now
