Bruins 2024-2025

The problem isn’t with the man standing behind the bench; it’s with the one sitting in the GM’s chair above him, as it’s Always been.

What happens if Sacco starts winning with the same guys?

The lyrics change but the song remains the same. The Bruins management philosophy is still infected with “Sindenitis” yielding 2 Cups since Bobby took flight in May 1970. Maybe time to reevaluate after 54 years?

3, if May 10th 1970 (Mothers' Day that year) is included.

More people need to have these numbers sink into their minds:

During the team's first 17 years of existence, it won 3 championships;

During its last EIGHTY-TWO years, it's won............. 3 championships.

What a waste - an absolute ****ing Waste - of resources & personnel by this ownership and the MISmanagement teams underneath it, all of whom have suffered various forms of Sindenitis along the way to Futility.

Buddy of mine says that Marchand should have never been given the captaincy. Says any lack of leadership falls on his shoulders.
Don't know. I respect his longevity and production. Hes been here his entire career and off the ice has lived a clean life. He's been mentored by Z and Bergeron. They could have done worse.

Not sure if being unsigned after this year is undermining is ability to lead?

Bruins GM Sweeney Holds Flame To Players After Firing Montgomery

The worst part of it all for Sweeney was watching numerous players, many of which previously excelled under Montgomery, suddenly become shells of themselves. To a man, nearly every Bruins player has experienced a drop in production this season.

My guess is he's retiring, which is why he's unsigned. I don't see how that could lead to guys not paying attention to him in the locker room, unless he's mailing it in, in which case, guys will tune him out.

Your guess is as good as mine. I was reading this morning he and the team are not close to an extension.

He does not have Bergeron or Zs presence and couple that with several players who make more than him and are here long term it's not good.

I really think what is happening is Monty went for a new deal and Cam and Sweeny said we need to see playoff success. Monty tried to coach a bit differently and the team tuned him out. Couple that with new players not familiar with the system and Sway holding out led to this crap start.

Let's see if Sacco can get everyone on the same page and play with discipline, urgency, and consistent energy.

I very much disagree with your buddy and suspect he has the Brad Marchand of 8-10 years ago stuck in his head. People evolve, Marchand certainly has

Coyle, Frediric, Zacha, Swayman, McAavoy and Carlo all had career years last year. This year all of them haven't just fallen back, every one of them has face-planted. Sweeney has made his share of mistakes but that's not on the GM and certainly not on the captain. Marchand may have started slow from a scoring perspective but is one of the very few whose drive to compete has been on display every game. If the rest of the team played as full out as Marchand this team would be at or near the top of the standings. Hell if most of them just produced at the averages on the back of their Topp's cards they'd be there. Outside of Swayman being a touch rusty nothing about this start lends itself to an explanation. Certainly I've never seen anything like it. Hockey isn't a game you can win without some fire in the belly

I would agree that he has the version stuck in his head. We had a very short discussion on it, which turned into "eff that guy" fast.

Makes all the sense in the world.

On top of the player additions, scheme adjustments, and the goaltender drama.....
Opening the season with 2 games in 1 week against the Panthers who not only have owned Boston in recent playoffs but kicked the snot out of this newest, tougher version of the Bruins on the scoreboard, on the boards, and with their fists had to be psychologically damaging.

It certainly damaged me.

This is where I stopped reading.

Of course it's on the GM.

It's ALL on the GM.

Sigh, maybe you should have opened your mind a bit and kept on going. You hate Sweeney, trust me we know that. Firing him doesn't impact what we're seeing happen on the ice right f'n now. Sweeney isn't out there untying the skates of Coyle, Frederic, Zacha, Swayman, McAvoy and Carlo. Every one of those guys is in his prime and suddenly they forgot how to play the game? I'm no Sweeney fan, he's a middling GM at best, but he has nothing to do with the absolutley startling number of guys on this team finding it difficult to play the game with their heads up their collective asses. It's not unreasonable for ANY GM to expect core guys in their prime to have what for them are average years. In fact it's kind of a given for any GM to reasonably expect that as a rule, barring an avalanche of injuries, a fistful of core guys won't all fall off the planet overnight. #FireSweeneyNow is a simplistic take on a bizarre problem and would do nothing to provide the headoutofassectomy the bulk of this roster needs.

I'm not defending Sweeney, a good GM would have extended Swayman two years ago and found a way to get Reinhart here, a true franchise accelerating move that was there for the making. It was also one that would have crippled a chief rival at the same time. Not at least seriously targeting Reinhart was a case of borderline GM malfeasance that no one has talked about and one for which I could easily see Sweeney justifiably being shown the door.

2 wins in succession and Marchand scores a goal. Swayman only saw 20 shots on goal period? Is Monty over in Detroit?

Vancouver would be a signature win for Sacco.

Baby steps but at least it's one forward without the two back... so far
