Broncos fumble: Forced to release Dumervil

Dumervil had his best season the year McDaniels was his head coach. Keep in mind he missed McDaniels second season. McDaniels is also the guy that gave him 6 years 61 million (43 guaranteed)

Gotta think McDaniels thinks highly of him.

I was talking more about their relationship. Does Dumervil like and respect JMD or does he think that he is a little punk? Didn't a lot of the Broncos players sour on JMD in his second year and tune him out?

Last I saw, the leader to be his new agent was none other than...

Tom Condon

Condon is Freeney's agent. Osi Umenyora's too. Should be interesting to see how he plays his clients off one another.

BTW, for those of you who say Belichick won't deal with Condon, he was Lloyd's agent and Belichick brought in Freeney's yesterday.

Well Freeney didn't sign and lloyd was foaming at the mouth to come here to NE last off season. Once they get a few more players that he represents..then i will change my perspective

It seems that there was a bit of proverbial kicking and screaming to get Lloyd to NE last offseason, but I suppose the Freeney visit is good news.

Freeney could still sign. Lloyd could still be back. If Condon refused to do business with teams that cut his clients for money reasons, he wouldn't do business with any team.

The whole Condon thing is overrated. He is going to get his client the best deal he can and he would do business with Hitler if he got his client the best deal. He doesn't like to do business with the Pats because they don't pay, but in this market the Pats might give his client the best deal.

He doesn't like doing business with the Pats because they won't give his clients blockbuster overpriced deals. But Dummervil isn't getting a blockbuster deal and the Pats in recent years have shelled out big deals for Mankins, Wilfork, Gronk, and Hernandez. It is different time from when both sides hated to deal with each other.

BTW, Freeney's probably didn't sign with the Pats yesterday because Manning has been recruiting him hard to go to Denver and now they need a starting DE.

RayClay knows what everyone here except you knows.

That Mankins was, dollar for dollar, the most overpaid Patriot last year.

I can't hate on Mankins ... hope he comes back strong in 2013.

I think the Pats look at it similar to the draft when three guys you have on your board are still available, you don't really care which one you get, so trade down and get one at a lower price. That's sort of the market for pass rush specialists right now with a glut on the market. There doesn't appear to be a big hurry to sign one before they are all gone....

rotoworld seems to think he won't sign here because of Condon.

“We pretend there are 31 franchises in the NFL now and they pretend we don’t exist,” Condon once famously said.

rotoworld seems to think he won't sign here because of Condon.

That quote is four years old. Obviously, that isn't the case anymore unless Dwight Freeney was in Foxboro trying out for the Revolution. If Condon pretends the Pats don't exist and Pats pretend Condon doesn't exist, who exactly was Freeney visiting yesterday.

Their hatred of each other stems from an incident that happened nearly a decade ago (when the Pats insisted Ben Watson do a six year deal in 2004 and Watson fired Condon to get the deal done). That is a long time ago.

And Dumervil is going to have a hard time finding a decent deal in this market with what the market for DEs have looked like. The Pats have cap space and might be the best place to get a deal especially if he ends up taking a short term deal and tries to test the free agent waters in a year or two.

Lloyd coming here and Freeney making a visit clearly shows that the war between Condon and Pats has thawed a bit. I doubt Condon and Belichick will ever hang out and have some beers together, but it seems like the mutual ban of ever doing business is not what it once was.

Condon was fired today by Dumervil.

Are you sure he fired Condon?
If true I feel good the Pats could sweep in.
I've heard rumors he wants to stay with Denver or go to Miami .
I pray we don't see him in Miami.

Grimes is still on the market as well would love to see us kick the tires.
He's visiting Cleveland today our lack of interest is surprising me.
I feel we need at minimum one more corner unless dmac is moving back there.

Per Rotoworld according to the Baltimore Sun paper the Steelers are a team to watch

In the Dummerville sweepstakes.

Ok then...a team that has restructured virtually every players contract already, and has little to no cap room is gonna sign the highest priced FA available? Lol!

That would certainly open the door for the Pats to sign Sanders...

PFT is reporting the same thing, that the Steelers are interested in both Dumervil and Ahmad Bradshaw too.

As far as the cap implications go, I think both the Steelers and the Ravens have been somewhat overblown pertaining to their current 2013 problems.

If BAL can go after Dumervil, then PIT certainly could too. The Steelers have more available cap space than the Ravens currently do.

At the moment, sportrac is currently reporting BAL to be approx.11-12 under, and PIT to be approximately 13 million under.
