Broncos: Easiest path to the #1 seed ever?

But Deuce Wild how do you define "got you"?

Lightning in a bottle bought him a bit of time but once the league figured him out (was it the Patriots in Denver?) that team did nothing but back its way into a shttstorm in Foxboro. I can hardly remember more embarrassing suckages in the history of the sport.

Anybody remember how the media played that game up as a classic confrontation between the new young gun and Brady? Hohohoh, hahahaha, hehehehehe, what a steaming crock of moose dumps.

Don't get me wrong, I like moose.

If the league had figured out Tebow, Pittsburgh wouldn't have lost to the Broncos in the playoffs. Nice try with the knee-jerk Tebow hate, though.

Well, I'm glad we settled that - a HOF QB is responsible for his team's lack of success. I guess we should all blame Brady for losing two SBs then? I know a lady named Giselle who would like to scream something at you.

Not at all, Manning is a great QB and a clear HOFer, and the biggest reason for the Colts success, however when spanky here is talking about people "slobbering over Brady," who is the pretty close to being the GOAT, then play-off success definitely enters into the equation, which I'm pretty sure you realize. If Brady wins another ring this season then he is the GOAT, no question, if Manning wins another ring this season then he is starting to catch up.

I'm not sure why you choose to ignore the reality of Manning's playoff career, but he's a sub .500 player who's gaspiped on many occasions.

I don't know about this. I would say that winning a SB with two different teams (for a total of two) trumps winning three SBs with the same team, but it's a matter of opinion anyway... I think Brady's career has been slightly better than Manning's because TB12 turns the ball over less. I believe that one day, football will be broken down into a sabermetric-type of analysis, and people will understand why Brady is in a class by himself and why his winning % is off-the-charts. Certain stats are more correlated towards winning than others.

That said, I think QBs should be less defined by the number of SB wins than in the past. If you look at the Joe Montanas and Terry Bradshaws of the past, they literally had like 8-10 Hall of Fame players on those teams. You look at a Brady or Manning team right now, and often, Brady and Manning are the only two HoF players... there are good, pro bowl players, but we're not talking about all-time greats. The salary cap does not allow this to happen. That's why the playoffs is often quite a crapshoot. I think Manning has mainly been unlucky, although that pick-6 against the Saints was worse than any throw Brady's made in 5 SBs, and his 70.1 passer rating for his "MVP" didn't fool anyone except his homer fans.

The last two SBs Brady has played, he's been terrific, but he's just one guy, and this isn't Troy Aikman with Hall of Famers dominating the field. Likewise, I think a lot of Manning's playoff failures cannot be pinned on him.

I just don't think Denver can be stopped. Top 5 offense and defense in terms of both scoring and yards, and a dynamic return game and great special teams unit. The closest they'll come to losing will probably be against the Pats, though Denver should still win by two scores.

Denver hasn't lost since Joe Mays and Tracy porter were finally benched, their defense has been amazing since. Keith Brooking and Danny Travathan splitting time at MLB, Chris Harris shutting down WRs at CB, and Tony Carter all but eliminating slot recievers have been huge reasons for that.

Like I said a thousand times, frequent doormats like the Raiders and Chiefs and Browns and horrid offenses like the Ravens and Bucs will make any decent defense look fantastic and top ranked.

Not saying Denver asked for and got these easy opponents down the last month of the year but it is what it is.

When/If Denver plows through their first opponent in the playoffs, that will show how good that #3 defense really is,until then I am not impressed until they beat someone really good or with an outstanding record in important do or die games.

Denver's defense will either be exposed for being good but not great as the stats show against the dregs of the NFL,or they will show they are better than I think they are.

As they say in Missouri "Show Me"

The Broncos have a great chance, dont get me wrong. So do the Pats though.

If you think youre "closest game" will be won by two scores in the playoffs, youre delusional and havent watched playoff football in years.

I think the Broncos remaining schedule correlates with not losing much more than the benching of Mays and Porter.

Harris is a stud but I highly doubt Carter will "eliminate" WW.

Youre not the only team who has evolved over the course of the season. Hernandez didnt play our first meeting, neither Talib nor Dennard were starters at corner and DMC didnt play safety. Not to mention we're either the youngest or the second youngest defense in the NFL and have made great strides over the course of the season. We finished #1 in turnovers and #9 in scoring D. We're pretty darn physical.

Plus our running game GASHED you the first meeting without Logan Mankins. Your D is good but undersized and we have a great running game and it will be of the utmost importance to establish it early and often in order to keep Elvis and Von from pinning their ears back and teeing off on Brady.

Cool, see you in about two weeks. Hope you're ready to eat your crow.

BTW, we already dismantled 2 of the 3 teams that could possibly play us that weekend, would not be surprised to see it happen again.

That's like, uhhh, you know, you're opinion man.

No, it's like, uhh, you know, the facts man. He's 9-10 (therefore sub .500), and he's been shutout, had 3 sub 40 QBrating games, completed less than 50% of his passes on 3 occasions, and thrown game losing pick sixes (gaspiped on many occasions).

And the Pats havent? We beat the Colts by 5 TDs and the Texans by 4 TDs.

You beat the Ravens by 17 and the Bungles by 8. Not exactly dismantling by any means. Can we say we dismantled you guys because we beat you by 10?!

I dont know where youre here, stop wasting our time.

This very well could be PM's 8th one and done season in his career. Like you said, this is the NFL.. **** happens.

No offense guys but we had an easy season too. We didn't capitalize.

I knew the Bronco trolls would arrive to this thread soon

His moniker reminds me of the Eagles fans who planned a parade before the Super Bowl or the Steelers who had a suitcase packed before an AFCCG. There is no guarantee ( on either side) that the Pats meet Denver in the AFCCG. After all, Mr. Manning has gone "one and done" 7 of the 11 times that he has been in the playoffs, with lots more talent than most. Brady by comparison has been "one and done" 2 of the 9 times he has been in the playoffs.

And the Patriots dismantled the Broncos the last 3 times they played them, including their last loss. Hard to imagine the broncos defense slowing down the Patriots when they have been completely unable to do so in the last 12 quarters.

Expanding this a bit...

NE vs. AFC playoff teams:
- Beat Houston 42-14 (+28)
- Beat Denver 31-21 (+10)
- Beat Indianapolis 59-24 (+35)
- Lost to Baltimore 31-30 on a bad call as the Raven's game-winning FG was actually wide, but oh well, stuff happens and it's still a loss for the Pats (-1)

So that's a 3-1 record with a +72 point differential.

Den vs. AFC playoff teams:
- Lost to New England 31-21 (-10)
- Lost to Houston 31-25 (-6)
- Beat Cincinnati 31-23 (+8)
- Beat Baltimore 34-17 (+17)

So that's a 2-2 record with a +9 point differential.

I dunno...which is more impressive: a 3-1 record with a +72 point differential or a 2-2 record with a +9 point differential, including a 10-point head-to-head win?

Yes, but two of the last three times the Pats have been in the playoffs we've seen them go "one and done". So it isn't that far-fetched to think they could get knocked off in the divisional round. Smart money is put on the Pats but still.....

anyone else see this ian rapport quote?

Just that the Broncos have been so stunningly efficient over the past several months that we barely talk about them. Why would we? Eleven straight wins, none by less than seven points. Manning has worked his way back to his old self
