Are we thinking that whomever Josh goes to as HC will be our Jimmy G. trading partner? (btw the reason I always refer to him as "Jimmy G." is my brain has yet to fully crystallize the spelling of Garapollo.. not even certain that was correctO

Simplify your life.
It's JAG

Goff has potential but a long way to go with little help. That's a tough job to walk into, understanding most teams looking for a new HC have issues. Is Goff the hard working student of the game that Josh is used to? That's the question.
Goff is kind of mystery to me. Here is a guy that PROFESSIONAL personnel people universally told us he was worth a top pick in the draft. One team thought he was worth THE top pick plus draft picks. So people "in the know", people who do this for a living thought Goff was really good.

Yet somehow between April and July, Goff became the kind of player that an NFL coaching staff felt was unworthy to wear a uniform on Sunday, even when the guys who were actually playing pretty much sucked and were hurt. Goff only got on the field when there was no choice. And once on the field proved that Fisher's decision to keep him off it, was one of the best he made while HC of the Rams.

And remember that Fisher's offense wasn't exactly what they do here. It's never been that complex, even while in Tenn. SO you have to wonder WHAT is wrong with this kid that, in a bad program, he's fallen so far. Most guys who get picked where he got are starters who have rough first years but show plenty of flashes too. (Mariota, Winston, Mannings, etc) This kid was buried on the bench like a UDFA and told not to show himself unless there was no one else to play.

I'd have to think it is more that he's badly coached, or has some easily solvable issues. There has to be some major disconnect going on here. A learning disability perhaps? I don't know, but I DO know that the #1 pick in the draft shouldn't be THIS bad. Even the epic bust QB the Raiders picked #1 (whose name escapes me) wasn't close to this bad. Ryan Leaf wasn't this bad

If he is offered a job he should take it.
His long range success will be based in his ability more than what he inherits.

I qualify that by saying I would understand turning down a job if ownership will not be supportive of winning or if there is a GM in place that has a philosophical divide.

Most of the best coaches in NFL history took over bad teams lacking talent.

I am not a fan of the 49ers ownership. You also have to hope that goff's not hurt mentally already. That rams's ol is putrid.

49er front office issues left with baalke.
Goff has played a handful of games so I'm sure he can mentally handle those. A system like ours is just what he needs and will make the ol better by itself.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that it's a **** move for other teams to be allowed to show interest and interview coaches that are still in the thick of their season!?!

But could they wait out BB?
Would you? You are being offered your dream job and you say no thanks I want to wait until the best team in the league has an opening so I'm going to pass up anything challenging and hope BB retires.
Coaches aren't wired that way.

And what do you want them to do share it? Flip a coin. One waits 7 years to not get the job?

Goff say because fisher believed a rookie shouldn't start day 1. It had nothing to do goff. You can't say his flaw is fishers an idiot.

Josh would be lousy to interview now. Jobs come up every year. Wait 3 or 4 years until Brady is done, in the meantime compete and hopefully win superbowls.

He falls on his face again and he's done.

This is the guy who drafted Tebow also, so maybe he's not as brilliant as he thinks he is.

I agree, no distractions!

i think Mc Daniels grew a lot from 2010

Tebow was drafted approx 7 years ago

hes has done imho a very very good job in NE as OC

So he should give up in his career aspirations because you want him to stay here but he sucks?

But could they wait out BB?
At 11 wins a year, Bill only needs 8-9 years to pass Shula. Health permitting I fully expect him to go for it. Waiting out Bill could be a LONG wait.

The rumor mill has Bill O'Brien getting fired by the Texans. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he and Josh traded off as our OC again?

Obrien took over a 2-14 team and has had 3 winning seasons and 2 division titles. No way he is getting fired.

3 bad teams with garbage qb's.

josh will return in a year or two. he can be the QB coach!

No doubt Fisher is a egotistical idiot who thinks he's a lot better than he is. However he rose to the level of an NFL HC and managed to stay there for 20 years, and even had a few good ones (extraordinarily few given the length of his tenure) No one dislikes that **** more than me. But you'd have to agree he knows SOMETHING about being a football coach. Fisher might not have wanted him to start right away and lots of times I'd agree. JG wouldn't have survived as a starter, given his background his rookie year, and likely not much better his 2nd. Most QB's would benefit from watching and getting used to the speed and talent gap that exists.

But Goff wasn't just sat down because he was in his rookie year. Clearly he was being sat down because of what he was showing in practice and in pre season games. He had no sense of the offense, and what you see in these last few games only points it out even more. In seven games he's HAD to play he's only topped 200 yds twice, and most of his best work in in complete garbage time (like in NE and NO), and looking at his stats it look like he's actually regressed instead of getting better as it went on.

Now I don't claim that I know what's wrong with him. I also don't claim that he can't be fixed. What I DO know is that his progression from the #1 pick in the draft to the playing field this season has been ANYTHING but normal, and I don't know why, but I doubt it's physical. So I do think this has SOMETHING to do with Goff that was a surprise to the Fisher staff, and went beyond his mere preference to sit rookie QB's

we disagree. Fisher held goff back and that is not about goff it's about fisher
His sterling career pretty much proves hus decision making blows especially at the QB position

BTW- I hope when the mediots are reporting that Josh is going to meet with 3 teams this week, he isn't traveling. I hope to christ they are coming here for the interviews. I don't mind him taking 2 or three hours in the morning or evening each day to see these guys (or maybe all in one day), but he has an important day job that needs him. He can't be traveling and essentially miss this week.

Can anyone confirm that he's meeting them in NE
