Re: Prediction: Boldin

So, are you reliable if you get suspended for 4 games?

That's like comparing apples and a really dumb internet post.

Re: Prediction: Boldin

The context is labeling one guy unreliable and the other guy reliable. Belichick might not feel that either of them are reliable.

He might not. But this is apples and oranges. One guy has shown a disturbing lack of reliability in terms of holding onto the football while playing games in the NFL. The other guy apparently is unreliable in terms of staying on the field, but once on the field, he holds onto the ball.

Since the guy whose unreliability is whether or not he even is eligible to play actually *IS* eligible to play, it then moves down to the next question: given that the two guys are eligible to play, how reliable are they *once they are on the field*?

BB might not think any more highly of Bolden, but I suspect we'll see more of him this coming week.

PS - Sorry for misspelling Bolden's name earlier in the thread. Terrible mistake!!!

Re: Prediction: Boldin

FALSE!
And let's see how he performs post-suspension

Bolden did average more yards per carry.

The only thing I can think of is either he was not ready/in game shape or...

...let's not forget the NFL's punishment for a crime does not mean it served' BB's sentence(if for nothing else, for being stupid and getting caught)

Re: Prediction: Boldin

Ridley and Vereen made young player mistakes against good opposition. Last week, Woodhead made a mistake and he's lucky the bounce of the ball went the Patriots way. It very easily could have bounced the Patriots way for Vereen and Ridley but it didn't.

Let's keep some perspective here. This team is good, very good. The 49ers had all the luck (and flags it seems) last night and are a top 5 team in the NFL. They made the Patriots pay for their mistakes. That's all there is to it.

What's that have to do with him holding onto the football?

he averaged more ypc based almost entirely on the buffalo game. he was doing better than ridley in the Seattle game as well but overall ridley out-performed him. I like the two splitting snaps though...keeps ridley fresh...also doesn't put too much on his shoulders.

Ridley has fumbled four times and lost it twice so far in 2012. Is that a cause for some concern? Sure. But even Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch have the exact same fumble numbers and Chris Johnson has coughed it up five times and lost four. Fumbles happen. And to be fair, last night's game against the 49ers was played in slick conditions. His first fumble was after he was down and so wasn't a fumble at all and his second was caused by a perfectly placed helmet. I would argue that even the best backs in the league would have coughed it up in those conditions with a perfect helmet hit on the ball like that. It isn't like he was carrying it poorly, or hanging the ball out irresponsibly. It was just a perfect hit from a helmet and an incredible bounce into the hands of a defender. Yes, he should work on ball security, but in my opinion, he is the best option at running back. Last night's performance shouldn't get him benched or his touches reduced.
