Brandon Aiyuk Roster Bonus Deadline - April 1st [Merged with Aiyuk watch is almost over]

My prediction is that the 49ers trade him in a salary dump and take a 4th round pick at best. This board will be irate when he goes to another team.

York is getting tired of paying these guys big contracts with no Lombardi's to show for it. 49ers are the biggest disappointment since 2019.

Everyone is acting like Aiyuk is a sure-fire #1 WR ready to save the Pats.

He had a MAJOR ACL & MCL tear in October. He's not going to be participating in any OTA's or Minicamps.
We'd be very lucky if he started practicing in live tackling in preseason. But, this normally leads to PUP.
I don't know if paying $20M/yr is worth basically losing the 1st half of this first most important rebuild.

My feeling is the 49ers stick with Aiyuk. Can’t just look at things from the Patriots fan lens, you also have to look at potential trade partners and what their situations look like. The Niners likely won’t get enough in return for him in a trade, and even if he missed the first month or so of the regular season, it’s a marathon not a sprint. They have a young, proven WR locked up for the next four seasons in an offense that works for him. They’re about to back the Brinks truck for Purdy. They’ve already unloaded Deebo, and Jennings is a free agent in 2026, by which then Aiyuk should be back to 100%. A nucleus of Purdy, Kittle, Aiyuk, and Pearsall should suffice for them to stay clicking on offense. The real question is what they’ll do long term at RB with McCaffrey starting to break down.

Here's a real consideration. Is a MAJOR Diva WR like Aiyuk - coming off a ACL & MCL tear & for big $$ - a better decision for THIS season, than a guy like Boutte? Who is going into his 3rd year, showed a lot of improvement: route running, separation, good hands & enough speed.
I'm not asking if Aiyuk is objectively better than Boutte in a vacuum, I'm considering the ability to contribute in this rebuild, which begins in April in all the OTA's and Mini camps, and building chemistry with Maye, and for the first 1/2 of the '25 season.
Add to that - the assumption that we're drafting a top 1-2 round WR, and want to get him up to speed with prime reps.
LOL at you comparing Boutte to Aiyuk.

(This coming from a LSU fan who watched Boutte in college)

Boutte is a JAG and will always dissapoint

I think it's the opposite in that the 49ers may take less favorable complementation just to get rid of his contract. The problem is that I don't even see a bad team wanting to take that risk. 49ers are probably stuck with him.

And his contract has been brought up by the local media saying that Ownership needs to stop paying guys at the last second where it gets to a point where they hold out. York has thrown out a lot of cash with nothing to show for it. They are starting the purging of these high contracts.
Who is New England a good fit for?

Short, slow, unskilled, unathletic, good character, good public speakers?
First and foremost, he has too be a gentleman. People on the board in 2019 should get the joke I'm referring to.

Aiyuk isn't a guy that can put the offense on his back and make others better. It's the other way around actually.

No, but he lost his leverage with his injury. As others have said, 49ers are looking to dump his salary. Reading some recent reports, they are looking to trade him and it may happen fairly quickly as he’s due $31M bonus on April 1st.

No. He’s not the savior. He was worth the money to the 49ers, but not at this point with the Pats. Aiyuk isn’t that guy that can transform an offense and take them to the next level. And it’s a major red flag how badly out of shape he was when he came back to play.
Let some other team pay that contract. It shouldn't be the Patriots.

Been hearing the browns have been interested.
Browns offering 4th but niners want a 3rd rounder from what i saw

Apparently the Browns have a hard on for him.

I was very impressed by Boutte’s 2nd year jump. Seemed to bond well with Maye. Interested in seeing how he does this year.

As an LSU fan, you can’t deny that he was excellent with LSU before his ankle surgery. His Sophomore season, he was on pace for a HUGE season before the injury. 38 catches for 508 yards and 9 TD catches in only 6 games. The video of the 2021 season does not lie. Also, several scouts had him as a 1st round pick before the injury. Hell, even one draft guide I had, even had Boutte as WR 1 in the draft.

We could have both McDaniels Offense might not be as Rookie Friendly: he might prefer experience guys which Aiyuk and Diggs are.
I think one of the exciting things about this year with Josh McD is that Drake and they young WRs on the roster and brought in the draft will learn the offense hopefully at the same pace. Josh is a good teacher and he seems to lean toward precise route runners and there are quite a few in the draft this year.

I think that Diggs would be a great signing because he is a route technician will a multitude of releases, Aiyuk as well but I would prefer they don't give up any draft picks.

I think everyone knows my feeling on Booty, I think dude has what it takes to be a really good #2 WR with McD as long as he keeps up the dedication. Last year he showed a lot of growth as a professional on the field, off the field still needs some work and please keep your ****ing mouth shut. I hope the Draft Higgins in the 2nd because I think Booty and Higgins would make a really good duo.

I'm in on Boutte also.

They have Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman who's going breakout this year: we better not make them get Aiyuk.

We should just give em the Third based on our cupboard.
If they make a trade for Aiyuk, I really want it to be Pick 4 for 11, 43 and Aiyuk.

Really that is the only way I would move for Aiyuck. The things they could do with 2 2nds and 2 3rds could really help build the young core
