Brady will not shut up since leaving the Patriots

1) Drinking water to excess. The amount he recommends (1/2 your body weight in oz of water. That is, if you weigh 200 lbs, you should drink 100 oz of water) could lead to hyponatremia. This is where you have thrown your body's salt levels off to the point your cells stop working.

2) That this excessive hydration helps prevent sunburns.

3) That you need additional electrolytes beyond what we already get through regular diet.

4) An 'alkaline' diet when you can't do much of anything to shift your blood pH.

5) Endorsement of a product from Alex Guerrero said to prevent concussions. This supplement does not.

This takes us to his buddy, Alex Guerrero.

1) He calls himself a doctor. He is not.

2) He promoted a supplement that was supposed to cure everything from cancer to Parkinson's to AIDS. It does not.
I have had several doctors and fitness trainers to tell me to drink half my body weight in water. For years, I had doctors tell me to drink 8 glasses of water a day and that was MORE than half my body weight.

The sunburns was not science. That was Brady just saying he felt he sunburned less from drinking more water. I do not remember anything in the book saying that was scientific fact.

You do need additional electrolytes if you are exercising heavily or are sick. Again, I have had countless doctors tell me this.

You absolutely can shift your PH balance through diet. I have done so. Where did you hear you couldn't?

I am not familiar with the concussion supplement so I will have to get back to you on that one. But there are tons of supplements on the market that help with brain function that could be said to help with the effects of concussions.

In terms of Alex, he has admitted to making mistakes when he was younger as we all have. He may have been swindled into believing in the cure all supplement or simply just trying to make a buck and get his business going. I am not trying to make excuses for him but he made an excellent choice partnering with Brady and starting TB12. Brady credits him the most with his longevity and performance success.

He should tell everyone he's so great he threw three picks in the NFCCG and still won...thanks to the all star team assembled around him.

Meanwhile, this is fine…because…he’s a Patriot. I’m sure everyone here would LOVE Cam if he weren’t on the team.

You weigh 12 lbs?

I have a science degree and have worked in alternative medicine. Many of these things have merit, they just have not been proven by science yet.
The human body is a very complex entity.

Imagine, flexibility (pliability) helps prevent injuries and extend your career. Where I worked they brought up a trainer who used to work with the Lakers...Byron Scott for example. His name is Bruce Madson. He advocated "Heat and Grease". Moving the joints and muscles slowly to overcome injuries and promote joint health. It pumps oxygen and nutrients into your joints. I used it to overcome plantar faciitis. I asked him if athletes used his methods. He said most don't. They rely on their natural talent. He said those that do are the superstars that have long, healthy careers.

Ozone therapy can disable viruses along with other health benefits. Used in Europe during the COVID pandemic (to save lives). Not readily accepted in American medicine.

Chelation; EDTA transfusions originally used for lead poisoning remove mercury and other heavy metals from your system. They also found it has the the beneficial side effect of decalcifying your arteries. The doctor I went to had 45% hard (calcareous) blockage in his carotid arteries. He now has none. He does an MRI of your carotid arteries before treatment for record of your improvement.

Homeopathy; there is documented evidence of human antibodies reacting to antigens that are no longer in the final dilution. This is evidence of a electromagnetic signature left by the antigen. We can also see an electromagnetic reaction in humans. Near instantaneous reaction to an injected antigen before it gets into the system.

The Chinese have been using herbal remedies for thousands of years (and acupuncture). My wife is Chinese and they have embraced Western medicine. She says "Only the poor people go to the herbal doctor."

There is much we don't know yet. That can only be currently proven by clinical results and case studies.

Chiropractic and acupuncture are now considered mainstream treatments. It was not too long ago they were considered quackery.

You believe what you want to believe. I try to keep an open mind.
I believe some of these treatments are suppressed by the AMA because they do not sell drugs and do not make money for big Pharmaceutical companies.

Terrific post.

Though some of Brady’s claims are pretty weak (sunburn, etc.) he specifically said the book/TB12 is for those looking to get an extra edge and not some “everyone can do it!” program. So things like hydration and electrolytes may have a different context when you train all day as a pro athlete.

I agree with much of what you wrote and was well informed by reading things I didn’t know. When it comes to diet /fitness/workouts, are we going to hold all doctors accountable for promoting unproven fads? Because doctors never even agree on basics like weight loss programs, diets, supplements, vitamin benefits, etc.

When I was in high school, I had the worst shin splints. After I sprinted and came off the court, my shins would feel like they had burning metal clamps in them. I went to numerous doctors and got answers that didn’t work. My friend’s dad was a chiropractor and told me to walk in a straight line without shoes. He watched me walk and in ten seconds explained my alignment was naturally off and that he’d order me orthodic inserts. I never had shin splints again. At the time chiropractors were indeed considered quacks. It changed my view of things.

Such a great post. Thank you for sharing.

I have practiced holistic medicine in my own life for the last 25 years due to joint and muscle pain. I have a chiropractor, massage therapist and nutritionist who also specializes in hormonal balance which has made a huge difference in my life as I have battled severe acid reflux. In the past, I have done acupuncture and homeopathy. Both were excellent choices for me.

I read Alex's book and his approach to diet and muscle building is right on point with what my practioners have told me. But as you say, not everything is right for everyone so you have to decide for yourself. For me personally, my holistic team works in colloboration with my PCP and other medical specialists. There is value in everything, you just have to find out what works for you and as you say, keep an open mind. The science is often behind.

Felger of course felt compelled to weigh in on this yesterday saying he's sick of Brady bragging about the TB12 method lengthening his career and said he sure he's using "something else"

I wouldn't suggest Brady uses steroids or anything like that. He's smart enough to avoid big hits, hasn't had major injuries.

His processing skills are amazing.

But I wouldn't attribute it to TB12 methods.

While down in Georgia I somehow got a case of ringworm. I was prescribed a cream and used regularly and after about a month I thought it was gone. A few months later it returned. My girlfriend told me to try apple cider vinegar. I did and it was gone in a few days. Wow. I couldn't believe it.

Another story. My sister in law is a chiropractor. Her dog had bladder stones. The vet recommended surgery. She found a recipe in a book that she had picked up and tried it. A short time later the stones were gone. The skeptical vet wasn't too pleased. Haha.

Anyway I'm a believer in both.

Why? He does.
