IF Peyton Manning had put up the numbers Brady has put up, with the injuries to the offense, Manning would win the MVP. Brady leads the league in passing yards (more than 1000 yards more than Newton), has 2 more TD passes and 4 less INTs. If Manning had done that, plus leading an injured team (3rd most injured team) to 12 wins, they would be drooling all over him.I don't always agree with Peter King, but in today's MMQB he states the truth: in any other season, Brady's performance would have him on his way to his third MVP, but this year it belongs to Cam Newton.
How many QB's who were MVP's actually won a SB recently?? The last time Brady won that thing we had an early Playoffs exit by Ryan and the Jets. Hoisting Lombardi > Leave MVP.
Another argument that hurts Brady's candidacy.....
-Gronk gets hurt in Denver....Patriots lose. Gronk sits out Philly...Patriots lose. Gronk returns Patriots win. I'm not going to call Gronk the MVP of NE but he is the X Factor. Without Gronk, Brady's stats, especially when he is forced to chuck it over the LBs and towards the edges....are pretty pedestrian.
Unfortunately for Brady and all players, you get judged for what is and not what might have been

It literally makes perfect sense. Sometimes there are more than one deserving candidate. Only one can win the award, but a very strong case can be made for more than one player. Newton has been amazing and would be a very deserving MVP winner, especially if they go 16-0. Brady has been just a little better, but the W/L category (which we all loved to tout in the Brady v. Manning battles) may be the deciding factor for Newton.
Don't make this harder than it is.

We'll have to disagree. But since that's a hypothetical scenario, it's not very easy (i.e., virtually impossible) to debate it.I disagree. You're arguing that a guy who has scored 40 TOTAL TDs (yes, I'm using TOTAL, because Cam actually scored all of those TDs) in 14 games is a game manager. You're arguing that the player who is leading the #1 scoring offense and an undefeated team, is a game manager.

All I'll say is that Newton's stats are better than you allow. He's rushed for nearly 600 yards and seven TD's. Put all his stats (98.6 Pass Rating and his rushing yards and TD's) together with an undefeated season and I really don't think the scenario you are hypothesizing would come to pass...that's why I think King has it right (for once)..."any other season" and Brady's performance would make him the runaway MVP.
"Most valuable" means "most valuable", not VERY valuable. The W/L ratio is stupid, as it has a ton to do with other players on the team.
Huh?
That's not what I'm arguing whatsoever. You completely misinterpreted my posts if that's what you think.
Anyway, sure the TD total is more than Wilson (2014), but I'm just trying to say that context kinda matters (see: horrific schedule & defenses). I'm basically questioning the huge difference in media/fan reaction to the "MVP's" 2015 stats and a supposed "Game Manager's"' stats of 2014 by adding some context.
