Bowl game discussion: Alabama vs Clemson, National Championship

Tua has a passer rating of 345.1. Love how that works in college. Lol

I kind of feel for Oklahoma. The Pats have a defense about as bad as theirs only on a pro level of course. Who else hopes this isn't a preview of the Pats vs the first good team they play in the postseason

The pats actually have a secondary. The sooners have nothing.

Did the Sooner who scored just mimic Tua's bow? Down 21?

Regards,
Chris

Our D has had its bad moments, but there’s no way this is a fair comparison. Not that I’m proud of this defense, but it’s top 10 in points. OKs D is astronomically bad.

This is where they miss stoops. Riley may be a good offensive mind but no way would their D be this bad under stoops.

Dumb fair catch call by Bama on that heavily penalized kickoff.

Chris

I was foolish enough to think this was going to be a good game doh

I see you Ceedee Lamb.
Cmon Serman gotta get that first.

Beautiful block by Lamb. The game feels a bit more entertaining now. I still don't think that the little bit of fight Oklahoma showed will be enough for the comeback, but at least it's fun to watch them pretend that they can run with the big boys.

And thank god for that! While I feel for them, their defense also makes me happy about our defense in some ways. The defense in OK is abyssmal.

Every game is like 45-3. My interest in already lukewarm, but why would anyone be intrigued to watch a bunch of lopsided games? Maybe bookmakers should be consulted for matchups to ensure the playing field is somewhat level. This is why I’ve always been disinterested in college football, the idea that a lot of these games have little chance of being competitive (that and the NCAA organization.)

The playoff field pretty much needs to be expanded. You can make damn good arguments for multiple teams to have been in this instead of Notre Dame and Oklahoma in a 4 team field. It won’t be long before it’s ecpanded to 8.

Lmao Saban isn’t impressed. Would have thought they were the ones down 31-10.

That would be an improvement. If Alabama or Oklahoma we’re beating up on the #7/#8 ranked teams, at least you’re going into with the underdog angle. The point spreads on both games today were over two TDs, and these are supposedly four absolute powerhouses. Then I see something about Auburn scoring 56 points in the first half...what’s kind of crap product is that for the featured games of the year. A 12 team field with NFL playoff format would be great.

Georgia is better than OK / ND. I've been saying that for a few weeks, and I know I'm far from the only one to espouse that view. Eight teams would have allowed OSU and UGA to play, as well as UCF so that they could see just how far they are from actual national champions (although going undefeated in back to back years is impressive regardless of level of competition, and they deserve to at least make an appearance).

In the meantime, I'm just hoping we get a lot of trash talk from Alabama about the wrong player receiving the Heisman.

The Alamo bowl was pretty close. The incredibly named NOVA HOME LOANS ARIZONA BOWL went to overtime today. The RAYCOM MEDIA CAMELLIA BOWL (another amazing name), was a 2 point game. The MAKERS WANTED BAHAMAS BOWL was decided by a field goal. Ditto the JARED BIRMINGHAM BOWL.

And if you didn't watch the CHEEZ-IT BOWL, you missed one of the most amazing experiences of the last decade: 19 signs Cal-TCU was one of the most beautifully hideous bowls ever

The BCS was better than this. Only 2 semi final games have even been close since the playoffs started in 2014. It's a joke

Seems like giving teams like a month to prepare just highlights the talent gap.

Then I see something about Auburn scoring 56 points in the first half...
Auburn 63-14 over Purdue
Purdue beat Ohio State 49-20
Alabama beat Auburn 52-21

If there were a transitive property of football, you'd have Alabama beating OSU by 109.

Yes. I totally agree. And expanding to 8 teams just makes it messier. Then you have quarterfinals where the top three teams wallop their opponents and the semis ending in not-so-bad blowouts.

College football is as big a mess as pro football right now.
