Boutte available for trade?

Compared with what everybody says it will cost us for brown, a 4th is dirt cheap. From your keyboard to God’s monitor.
4th and a player.
As for suitors for Diggs, they all know when he was born. It’s not like blazing speed is his super power, route running is. That got him to 1000 yards at 32. If he gets no suitors, might he be game to take reduced money and a reduced role? Nobody’s first choice, but maybe it’s everybody’s “good enough” at the end of the day.
No, it doesn’t fit “younger cheaper faster” but it enables that approach. And yes, it’s unlikely.
How cheap?
Our difference might be you’re loving the stUDFAs. To me they’re unknowns. If you’re at a lesser program, why? Yes, yes, many reasons. Yes, yes, you could be good at an unknown program. It just really less likely.
Every rookie is an unknown.
I realize that this team expecially loves the non powerhouse picks.
Every team brings in UDFA’s. They make up roughly 25% of active rosters in the NFL.

I have just read this entire thread. We kinda have nothing to talk about at this point, it seems. I mean, I just talked bout how we have nothing to talk about. Not good.

I see that most fans here are assuming that we are getting AJ Brown for draft pick(s) only

They don't seem to think that the Eagles will want a cheaper, younger WR as part of the deal.

I've been assuming they WILL want a WR even though they drafted Lemon in the 1st round, and that the cost of getting AJ Brown is giving up one of our WRs (Boutte I'd guess)

It's probably not a coincidence that neither Boutte or Brown are participating in voluntary workouts as both teams wouldn't want to risk an injury if they are part of the same trade, no?

Hey, I'd love to keep Boutte and have Brown - but I think the price for Brown is a draft pick and a player

Is there a reason why everyone seems convinced that he's not a part of the trade, especially if we are haggling Philly down from a 1st round draft pick?

I'm just saying you're not going to see numbers like that with any upgrade. It's rare in the NFL.

And by the way, for everyone saying Boutte disappeared in the playoffs, you guys haven't looked at the actual stats. Against Seattle he did little (only a 21 yd catch) but against the Jags and Texans he was stellar: 9 targets, 7 catches, 136 yards. Now, if we didn't have a crumbling OL against seattle, you might have seen the same thing.
Understand. The entire offensive production took a major hit in the postseason.. largely in part becuase we had our Left tackle playing on one leg and teams we saw with some ferocious fronts had 17 weeks of film. I like Boutte if you go back to my post on him last year I was supporting him whe many posters had him being cut! I'd like him here! But we just don't know if it's him wanting out or the team?

did Williams show enough last season, to warrant trading a 24 years old WR that played like Boutte did last season?
lets look to next season and the season after. Pop and Hollins are gone. Williams may have not shown to be able to operate in this offense. Brown will be 2 years older on questionable knees.
Doubs and Boutte still make a very nice WR foundation
OK. What you are really suggesting is that we extend Boutte because he would be a major contributor in 2027 and 2028.

Barring extension, what matters is his contributions to the team ion 2026. And I agree that he is a fine value at the price that he is being paid.

If you have AJ Brown, Doubs and want to get Kyle Williams more snaps and targets… what do you do with Boutte? Bench him, or play him over better players?
Which is fine with me. How many training camps did multiple WR’s go down. If we are just getting a 5th or 6th and his salary hit is low, then I want him here for camp. If he’s going to be a Problem child pretty quickly then he may have to go

remind me again why the Eagles have to trade him on June 1? I get whey they cant trade him before June 1, but why on June 1?
whats to say they don't wait for their price until August?

They can move him anytime after 6/1. I’ve come to believe that the whole deal has already been negotiated between NE & Philly. No proof but it just feels like it. So in that case it’ll happen on June 1.

Allegedly..

Not exactly surprising given the pending AJ Brown acquisition, Boutte’s upcoming contract year & (to a lesser degree) him working away from the facility.

A fifth or 6th?! That’s ridiculous…if they are going to only get that in return just keep Boutte…he would be #2 WR after Brown most likely or at worst #3 (Doubs). Not sure why we always give talented players away for nothing

the issue isn't trading him if Brown is brought in
the issue is for a 5th or 6th rd pick.
selling low
Exactly….and he is one of our top 3 WR with Brown ….this would be idiotic

out of all our home grown receivers he should be part of the plans.

its a tragedy to send guys who have demonstrated growth and maturity in their game packing... if he were a scrubini, you let him walk... but he's not... he's a damn good player. better than any receiver we currently have on the roster - including Romeo Doubs...

this stuff pisses me off... wasting talent on the promise of a potential upgrade we do not know the cost of...

would much rather spend the money on Gonzo than Brown... don't know why, but i just don't care much for him as a player... maybe its been the two years of carping in Philly, but eh, **** that guy at this point... ymmv
Well said

Doubs yes, Williams has the potential to be much better.

500 yards receiving is 500 yards.

If I went by success rates Jakobi Meyers would be the most successful QB in Patriot history.

Jordan Love

If Boutte doesn’t want to sit behind Brown you can’t expect him to do it and keep his mouth shut or be a distraction. Vrabel wants players who want to be here.

The current regime has been here for little over a year. The past is meaningless.
I think Williams has alot to prove this year…..he showed flashes of brilliance last year but also a lot of Tyquan Thornton moments

I think it's a 3 or 4 at the worst.
I could see a 3 ….guy had a great year last year and has improved every season….and he is still only 24….Pay him or trade him but at least get a decent return!

I'm thinking we should do a poll to see where Patsfans stand on including Boutte in the AJ Brown trade as I think that's what may happen

Maybe Boutte has nothing to do with this trade and is still on the trading block, but I think the Eagles want a WR in return and Boutte fits their needs

So are you good with any or all of the following in order to get Brown?

1. AJ Brown straight up for a 2nd round draft pick
2. AJ Brown straight up for a 1st round draft pick
3. AJ Brown for a 2nd round draft pick AND Boutte
4. AJ Brown and a 1st round draft pick AND Boutte

You just compared Pickens to Boutte again.

Boutte caught 33 balls in 14 games last year. That is a little over 2 catches a game average. In the regular season, he had three games with more than 3 receptions and two more with three receptions. That accounts for his high success rate.

Short distance receivers like Welker and Moss have three or four times and targets that many receptions which brings down the success rate.

Maye had a near historicly good completion percentage in the regular season. That accounted for a lot of Boutte's success rate. Both and Diggs and Hollins had similar success rates. If Boutte had his success rate and Diggs and Hollins had significantly worse success rates, then you would have more of a point. And Maye's deep ball accuracy is elite. Probably the best in the league. He can throw it into tight coverage even 20-30 or even 40 yards down the field.

I like Boutte, but he is way overrated by fans here. He is a good receiver. He isn't anything special though. If he was, the Pats would be looking for a first or second round pick, not a fifth or sixth round pick as reported. And they would get it.
If you can't read what I wrote, don't blame me.

That's your problem.

I am not ****ting on anything. The Patriots had three receivers with close to 70% catch rate. Drake Maye completed 72% of his passes in the regular season. I look at the catch rate of all the receivers on this team as a product of Drake Maye.

You learn the game.

Again, if Boutte is as good as you say he is, why are the Pats trading him in the first place, only looking for a 5th or 6th round, and there doesn't seem to be any team even willing to pay give up that much to trade for him for so little? If Boutte was as good as you say he is, half the leagues would be fall over themselves to trade for him for only a fifth rounder.

Again, Boutte is a good receiver, but nothing special.
Holy smokes.
