Patriots Injury News Bourne tears ACL

Why?

point of a draft pick is drafting an unproven rookie in hopes they’ll prove to be a good player.

Bourne has already proven he is a good player.

i believe he is a free agent. if they liked him so much they could've re-sign him in the offseason.

And the Great NotGOAT BB let D-Hop leave the building I knew that Stupid BB move was going to Come back to haunt us. We are Definitely getting the # 1 Overall now.

Yes he’s in last year of his contract. He will become a free agent if not extended at the end of this season. I’d rather extend or re-sign him than trading him for a roll of the dice.

If we had a crystal ball could of traded him for a fourth.

Can’t put a gun to his head he was already record stating he wanted to play somewhere where he could keep his money.
Plus he started going to school in Tenn,
So I think he had his mind made up.
We would of had to pay a lot more to get him.

Think this shuts the lid on whatever offense we could muster. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

well hes not getting traded anyways now

The stars are aligning for a top pick next draft. It's just not our year no point hanging on now.

also much much greater risk of bust.

given Pats’ track record drafting and developing WRs, realistic ceiling should be that your younger cheaper guy develops into Bourne three years down the road.

I’d rather keep Bourne. I think he can be re-signed at a reasonable price, especially now.
I wouldn't hate re-signing Bourne but he will be 29 next season and likely miss the first few weeks of 2024. A lot of it depends on what they do at receiver in the offseason but either way Bourne really shouldn't factor into any initial plans at the position. I think Douglas is the only one worth having around next year as it stands. Let the next coach (hopefully) sort through the rest of the mess.

Beat me to it I was going to ask about recovery time if he gets the surgery right away.

With Bourne and (likely) Parker out this week, if neither Boutte nor Thornton are active it is pretty damning on them.
I think team will be forced to play with them. You need 4 wide receivers and of note we have Juju, Reagor, Douglas, Thornton and Boutte .

Just keep playing them and see if they develop and form some chemistry with Mac . If we happen to have a lions type Renaissance that would be great as well.

How about that Parker extension.

If I had to guess they would wait till late summer to sign him and he would probably start on the PUP list.

I would have.

I want to see the replay of the tackle that tore his ACL, I thought there was a little extra to it

I thought he was progressing well playing under Bob and would be a solid #2 to compliment a legit #1. This is just not our season. I wish him a full and speedy recovery.t

Bummer, get well buddy. Was hoping he could be dealt since he is one of our better WRs
