Stevens was horrible tonight with the rotations. Marcus Smart and Jae Crowder were trash. How much does Smart have to screw up for Brad to bench him?

Less Smart and more of Rozier/Jaylen Brown. But Brad is stubborn and he cost us the game.
During that 26-0 debacle, I didn't know if Stevens had left the building, passed out into a coma or (perhaps more likely) had some sort of minutes/point differential agenda regarding substituting or at least simply calling timeout. You cannot normally expect your team to recover from the head coach turning into a turtle for four minutes and just letting the deficit skyrocket unabated.

He's got a good bench. Call time; bring in some fresh guys, slow it down and clamp on some D to hang in there and have a shot down the stretch.

Whatever his thinking was, I disagree with it and it was a colossal failure.

And wtf is with Stevens throwing Brown in the dog house? I get he's raw and inexperienced but clearly you need an athlete who can match up better than Crowder or Jerebko.... because those two SUCK and have no athletic ability .. bad 2 games for BRAD
It's just funny and sad that Brad will toss Jaylen into the dog house but he lets Smart run around the court like an idiot playing sloppy basketball, basically flushing the game down the toilet. This dude shoots jumpers like a center. I'm not sure I even want him taking an open look from the perimeter at this point.

Obviously I can't only rag on Brad and Smart only because the rest of the team also shat the bed. Have to call out IT as well. I love the player but he played stupid last night. The last thing we need is hero ball when we are reeling. A great PG will patiently set us up for some good looks. What we needed was a a few well executed scores and it could have limited their run. Instead he turned the ball over and made it worse.

I disagree with you on Jalen.. his ceiling is definitely a starter 15-20 pts/gm and the other things like rebounding and defense only time will tell. But in 2 or 3 years he will be a very good player as he continues to develop. He needs to grow a bigger set of balls though. But he is young.

Marcus Smart honestly what a waste of a pick. He is a turn over machine.

Horford has been really solid.. he can pass and shoot the long ball.

IT needs to play smarter.. they started pressing in this game I saw it. He needs to spread the ball around if he is going to be double or triple teamed. He sucked tonight.

The kid is a prospect. So I could be wrong. But right now he lacks the ability to create his own jumper or hit one consistently. I don't see him ever turning into an above average player. I hope I am wrong. Hell, I thought Ron Mercer would become an All Star, I loved Oriene Green and I thought Buddy Heild would be an amazing pro. So what do I know? In my defense a lot of people were calling Greene the next Jason Kidd. Maybe it was just Tommy, LOL. He did turn out to be a criminal like Kidd. So they are a little similar.

There are a lot of things this organization does that don't make sense. Look at this organization and the Red Sox. I know the Sox have won three titles. But look at all the head scratchers and the ever changing philosophy of team management. The latest idiotic example: alienating Lester and letting him walk (because he is over 30) then dumping 200 million on the Peyton Manning of baseball. Bidding against themselves in overpaying Porcello. Great regular season, nothing in the postseason. Now contrast this with the stability of the Patriots who have one owner and an extremely clear chain of command and consistent decision making process.

Now, compare them with the Bruins...

...on second thought, just forget it.

We got outcoached and outworked in the boards.

Stevens needs to figure out how to beat that trap they're using on IT or put in another player who can take it to the hoop once the ball is in his hands after the trap. Too often IT passed out of the trap and we couldn't take advantage of their defense scrambling.

Now we'll see if Stevens is really a championship caliber coach.

I have said this all year how the hell does Marcus Smart play so much minutes for as Bad a Shooter he is??? Smart's non existent Offensive game have made him next to useless Defensively. He's not helping the Team anymore Rozier is better. Smart is a Jag and the worse Shooter in the NBA.

If only they had paid an All Star 113 million in the offseason. Another swing and miss by Danny. I'm willing to give him somewhat of a pass because I honestly believe Durant led him to believe that signing Horford would get a deal done. But without getting into all his horrific decisions, in the last two draft he has drafted Marcus Smart (not an NBA caliber player) at 6 and Jaylen Brown (who's ceiling is probably solid defensive player who contributes 10-12 ppg off the bench) at 3. This is made even more disturbing by his putrid draft record in general. If he doesn't turn one of those two remaining Brooklyn picks into a legitimate All Star I don't think we can afford to continue this Danny experiment. Take IT (which was more luck than anything) off this team and they are a 25-30 win team at best.

Danny is an Excellent Trader but his Drafting leaves a lot to be desired Smart should have Never been a lottery pick.

Celtics have overachieved this season by getting the #1 seed. I have very managed expectations of them getting deep in the playoffs so I'm not disappointed.

However, any talk of giving max money to IT is absurd. Trade him immediately while his stock is high. If there's any truth to the rumor that Kristaps Porzi??is wants out of NY, offer IT, Jae Crowder, and a swap of draft picks in 2017 (assuming ours is higher) and some non-Nets future picks for him.

the rest of the guys played badly, but really it started w/ IT...his expectation cannot be that he will get the call when he drives, when hes by the basket and theres 2 or 3 or 4 guys around him all a foot taller PASS the ball

he played selfish ball, and when your PG does that, it not only makes it so rest of the players cant help, it also hurts them

Rivaled only by MLB in players not giving their all and playing as a team only when the mood suits them.

This is what young people who disregard Bill Russell, the greatest basketball player of all time, don't understand. Back in his day and up until recently, players got rest in minutes not days.

There's also the misconception that because Russell had to play less rounds in the playoffs it somehow lessened his amazing accomplishments. It looks to me as though the teams now are the beneficiaries of much softer teams, even in the later rounds.

The Celtics are a seriously flawed team with few NBA caliber players (i.e. players who can catch, shoot, dribble and play defense). The fact they won 53 games and got the #1 seed just shows how weak the rest of the NBA is.

I pulled a Walhberg in the 3rd quarter of the Celtics game last night. I don't care, I can't stand it!

i think its more a testament to the coach than anything else

we all know CLE isnt weak, and yet they outdid them...give Brad a top 10 squad, and you get a championship

(tho i agree last night was not a good game for him either)

Hopefully this shift back to Boston is a good thing for the Celts. You're reeling right now and the Wizards have had Thomas' number the last two games. Maybe in Boston, Stevens will learn to call a timeout and make a couple of substitutions when the Wizards go on a run.

It was infuriating to watch. I left the game on but left the room, I couldn't stand watching that pathetic performance. I have watched the Celtics off and on all season.. and they are very inconsistent. Jay Crowder is a prime example of the word inconsistent. Bradley and IT have to bring there A games and Horford has to keep playing tough and knocking down his shots. Horford has been surprisingly good this post season.

Terry Rozier is going to be a player, he is going to be very good.

The thing about the future of the Celtics though.. I have no idea who they should draft, we need a good big man besides Horford. We don't need more friggen guards.

These runs by the Wizards are killing us. Every damn game they do it. It's not just ordinary runs where we give up 10 straight points. It is spotting the Wizards 15-20+ or leads in the blink of an eye. You can't win that way. Really we are fortunate not to be down 3-1 at this point.
