Booing a 12-3 home team for going 3 and out: No Class

You can look the results up yourself. The attendence records from 90-92 can't be that hard to find.

Really? Different times, different people attending the games. Can't believe you're actually comparing the times.

Example: I was 6-7 years old at that time, so obviously I wasn't attending games. Does that mean I wouldn't NOW? Give me a break.

That's not a thoughfull response is it? So whatever do you say? Is it your opinion that fans wouldn't start to drop off with losing seasons? Seriously if they can't hang round a whole game when things look bleak then when they actually have a few losing years back to what makes anyone think they would hang around?

Of course. But the debate was whether it's ok to boo your team even if they are good (but playing poorly for a half). My point was that it is ok and all it does is prove that the fans demand excellence, which isn't a bad thing.

How can you be expected to be taken seriously when you don't even have your facts correct?

Solder has taken numerous snaps at LT in place of Matt Light in games where Vollmer was active.

Donald Thomas was on the field at LG, not Ryan Wendell.

Using UDFA as an excuse is a joke. Especially when those guys have been with the team for a few years and seen plenty of time on the field.

And a real fan knows that the Boo-Birds didn't start coming out until the Pats 3rd punt. And it was warranted.

I take that as you're referring to yourself as a "REAL fan", right? Anyone who is insecure enough to make sure everyone knows they're a "real fan" is...well...I just feel bad for you.

If both silence and booing convey displeasure, why, O Wise One, is one better then another?

Because booing is voice given to ignorance and childish impatience. Better to be silently ignorant than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Anyone who doubts the players and coaches are fully aware of their problems and shortcomings without fans calling it to their attention by booing needs their head examined.

I think this whole issue can be solved quite simple...instead of booing...replace it with HISSING....

So, anyone who boos is ignorant?
In my opinion, true ignorance is speaking about something, or someone, you know nothing about, and passing judgment on that issue or topic as if you do. Especially when that judgment is insulting.
Really, on this topic, you should follow your own advice.

Lots of namecalling from the internet tough guys.

Not a bad thought, perhaps, but certain people here would still see that as an ignorant and childish gesture.
Apparently sports fans have only two options: cheer or, sit there in Buddha like silence. :bricks:

Yes, when it comes to booing what fans "perceive" to be poor play especially by a team as ridiculously successful as the Patriots. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, booing does not motivate players to play better or coaches to coach better. It just pisses them off at the fans.

In my opinion, true ignorance is speaking about something, or someone, you know nothing about ...

It's also booing with the grossly mistaken assumption that it'll make a difference on the field.

oh yeah????

well, I heard you thought you were first and goal with that young hottie the other night..

turns out you were 4th and a foot...as she booted you out the door at midnight...

One thing I'm sick of is hearing all the older people ***** and moan about people who "joined the bandwagon" in 2001. Well, I was 15 and just starting to get into football around that time, does that make me less knowledgable than you? Quite possibly...hard as that is for a twenty something to comprehend.

Nope, sure doesn't. In fact, I'd argue that I'm more a student of the game and know more about it than a lot of these "old timers" do.Of course you would, kids always think they're smarter than us older people and know it all...

Just because around the time I got to be the age where I got big into football does not mean I'm not allowed to expect success from the team I root for. It's a good thing to always expect to be the best.

It is, as long as you concurrently develop perspective and grasp the fact that your ideal expectation isn't always going to be met and often for reasons beyond anyone's control.

I think you just underscored his argument...

I'm sorry, but if you really believe that if the Patriots went 1-15 for the next 2 years that their attendance wouldn't drop then you really don't deserve to be posting here.

I was going to college in Boston in 1989 and my parents lived in Maine. I would go home on the weekend to watch the games because they were blacked out in Boston, Portland is out of the blackout radius. Heck, the Patriots almost moved to St Louis.

It would take a while, and hopefully it never happens again, but if the Patriots turned into the Cleveland Browns for 3 or 4 years, it sure would be easy to pick up some tickets.

And they were in the superbowl 3 years earlier.

And, by the way, speaking of stupidity, when was the last time you heard a stadium of 60,000 sports fans be silent? Because I've been going to sporting events for 40 years and have yet to witness that phenomenon.

Apparently you've never been at the RCA Dome when Manning had his offense on the field. He had that fanbase trained about as well as his WR's...

Well, you have certainly convinced me...I was wrong to "perceive" the Pats were playing poorly when they were losing 17-0 at home, couldnt get a first down, and were getting torched on D repeatedly. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. After watching football for 40 years, I thought I knew good from bad, but now I know I was wrong.
I am in line for tickets for the AFCCG if its at Foxboro. Lets hope for more of that "great" play from the boys!

It's not about you, it's about people in general. In general, people won't support a team that has an extended period of poor play. I brought up those years because that is the most recent stretch for the Patriots where that is the case.

Agreed...but the reason I am responding to this thread ..and to Tunesmith's posts to me... is your statement does NOT pertain to me...I would still root for the team and go to the games. And, when I do, I will cheer for the TDs by that 1-15 team, and boo if they are losing 17-0 at halftime and cant get a first down.
And yet, by Tunesmith's position, and others in here, that makes me ignorant and classless and clueless, etc, not to mention, a bandwagon fan.

Do you know what "ignorance" means?

And to say that booing doesn't give some players a kick in the ass to get back to their A game is IGNORANT in its own considering you have no f*cking idea whether it does or doesn't. Get off your high horse and go away.

Sometimes it's just attention to detail.....like the team you're a fan of.
