BOMBSHELL: Kraft just said on the "2 Bills" that the NFL office wanted Parcells to coach the Jets

See that’s how .500 works, half good half bad.
I’m not sure what draft picks someone else made have to do with his job as a coach.

Parcells is the 2nd best coach to have coached the patriots but ray berry was a more successful patriot coach, which is what we are talking about here. Parcells success in other places is irrelevant.

As a patriot coach he did better. For a coaching career obviously Parcells is far ahead.
I'm stating Parcells is the 2nd best "coach" in Patriot history.

We can talk about Fairbanks, Berry, etc and their records but if I needed to build a team and coach it, i'll take Tuna.

The way Parcells handled his exit from Foxboro to the Jets, including the run up to the SB where he is negotiating his next contract with NY when he should have been focused on preparing his team, the sham of making BB the head coach for six days while saying his role would be as “consultant”, the poison pill offer that pilfered a future HOF running back from our roster, and the shenanigans around pretending not to have seen the fax from Kraft asking for permission to interview BB and then spitefully resigning as HC to try to stick it to Kraft, just made me realize what a slimeball this guy truly was. All time great coach. First class jerk.

Just imagine if Mr. Hess hadn’t passed and the ownership situation hadn’t been in flux during that transition. BB would likely have stayed and coached the NYJ and we’d have ended up with Dom Capers. Yikes!

I agree although I guess I cut Parcells some slack just because he was integral in turning around the Pats program which was at an all time pathetic low when he took over. I thought Belichick was great when he basically apologized for the way things went down with the Jets and was hoping Parcells would also apologize which he really didn't do. I guess he couldn't bring himself to do it. I did like seeing them mostly bury the hatchet and contrary to what Tanguay said I feel they are very close even if they don't hang out or see each other all the time. My favorite part was Parcells describing the HOF bust and the end. It's shocking to think all of the different repercussions for many franchises through this history. What is Belichick coaches the Giants after Parcells leaves and never goes to Cleveland?

I said it time and again, it's my belief that Parcells purposely did not prepare properly for the SB. From the decisions on who did and didn't dress (Sam Gash, Troy Brown) to the lack of 2nd half adjustments. Not having Gash and Brown hurt Special Teams coverage and hurt the offense.

Scarnecchia is the second best Patriot coach of all time.

I would make the argument that Parcell's as a GM was even better than Parcell as a coach. Willy Mac, Troy Brown, the 1995 draft that brought in Ty Law, Ted Johnson and Curtis Martin. And the 1996 draft with Bruschi, Milloy and Terry Glen. His drafts were solid.
Yea remember the fight Parcells had to draft Terry Glenn

Tuna Crap never won a thing without Belichick.
As a Pats HC he was the best of a bad lot until 2000.
His strength was picking his spots to coach.
Lol it’s funny because even in 96, Bill was on the Pats staff for that one year.

Gash was on IR. Troy Brown was a head-scratcher as they decided to dress Ray Lucas instead.

That is why the winky face. It was drafting Glenn instead of his Defensive guy that was the straw that broke the Kraft Parcells relationship
I know lol that my point

And this combined with his quote that "he would never win a Super Bowl for Kraft"... ought to raise eyebrows.

I thought the 1996 draft was Bobby Grier's draft. Parcells slammed the door and left when Kraft allowed Grier to take Glenn. I think Parcells wanted Cedric Jones (?) the DE that went to the Giants. But he left for the room for those other picks.

Kraft said that until then, he thought "the league office was pure."

Are you kidding me?

And Goodell was in the thick of that!

I knew the league was corrupt when they allowed their buddy to steal Curtis Martin from us.

I think a good case can be made for Fairbanks. Robbed by Ben Dreith of a SB appearance. Woulda won the SB.
Fairbanks had to build a SB contender with an owner who would not and could not spend $ for players vs affluent owners. Parcells had Kraft, Fairbanks had the Sullivans.
Interesting that both HCs left their owners in the lurch.

Wasn't there a story that Parcells secretly met with the Jets and NFL brass just after the 5-11 1995 NFL season? That's when the plan was hatched to have him leave for the Jets.

Things got stale in New England, it was a very disappointing season. Parcells met with the Jets, then asked Kraft to redo his contract by eliminating the last year and the buyout. Kraft did so. But Parcells was too smart by half. He didn't realize that he was still prohibited from leaving the Patriots to coach the Jets because the Patriots still wanted to employ him.

In other words, Parcells dishonestly tried to get Kraft to end the contract so he could go to the Jets scot-free.

So, why in the world would Kraft let a guy like that, a guy who was going to leave, choose the groceries?

It makes no sense.

Andbim talking about what they actually did, in real life, here.

And the Pats find Robert Edwards who looked like a rookie phenom and someone who could adequately replace Martin and maybe more than that... only to permanently lose him with a devastating freak accident at the pro bowl.

Oh yeah but the Pats are the luckiest team in NFL history. Suuure.

This deserves an enormous C’MON MAN
