Bodden getting interest from others

I'm not saying he's a stud, I'm saying he's a pretty good corner with a lot of upside. Cromartie took 3 years off? The guy had a great 07, was banged up but still played in 08, and had a solid bounce back season in 09. To say that the guy sucks when we have no one better on our roster at the moment, is a joke.

People don't just throw draft picks away. A 3rd that can escalate into a 2nd is good value for a guy that you want to trade. What would you consider good value? I think it's excellent value considering they didn't have a lot of leverage b/c they wanted to trade him. Very rarely are you going to get a first rounder for a guy on the trade block. Besides Cutler, who has gotten a 1st for anyone?

LOL! He had a solid year in 2009? You provided evidence that he was the 56th best CB in 2009 by a ranking that you provided to prove Marshall was worse than him. Cromartie was mediocre this year. You can't have it both ways.

Sorry, Cromartie had 9 good games in 2007 and a lot of it was overrated. He since and before has been a mediocre CB. Come clean. Are you briz from the ESPN Message Board (and who got laughed off this site) who has the worst mancrush for Cromartie that I have ever seen by one fan for any player ever.

I think Bodden will still be here, but he is going to use other teams to increase his value.

That's what's going on with Peppers. The Bears have openly said that he is not leaving without a contract, but his people are saying that other teams are still talking to him. I have a feeling that guy may break Haynesworth's record from last year.

listening to Fox sports and Cromartie supposedly has 7 kids with 5 different women. trying to give Henry a run for his money.

*back to free agency*

just google "Cromartie Child support"...it's ridiculous...the guy's life is a mess

I've said numerous times I don't like those rankings and don't think they are accurate. They have Nnamdi rated worse than Tramon Williams and Terrell Thomas. From watching them play, I think Cromartie is better than Marshall.

Cromartie had a solid year in 09. I don't have a mancrush on Cromartie, never have and never will. But addding him for a 3rd round pick with Bodden on the open market and no real replacement on the team, is something I would have seriously considered.

You seem to have a slanted view on Cromartie because he was Charger. I honestly don't know how you can possibly think he's not worth adding when we've seen Wilhite struggle, Wheatley not even make it onto the field, Springs aging, and Bodden possibly leaving. I'll take my chances that Cromartie pans out better than the 3rd we'd be giving up for him.

The point of "he will be great across from Revis" is that Cromartie is their #2 CB. He was talked about as one of the best CB's in the league two years ago and shutdown Moss completely in 07 playoffs. The "experts" on NFL Live and such shows are already saying that Revis and Cromartie is the best 1-2 CB combo in the league. It's hard to argue. Cromartie would be the #1 CB on a ton of teams, and currently would be the #1 on the Pats since all we have are Butler Wilhite Spring Wheatley.

I'd rather have Cromartie for a 3rd rather than Marshall for a 2nd. Everyone says what does it say about Cromartie that he was available for a conditional 3rd. What does it say about Marshall that the Panthers only placed a 2nd round tender on him? If he was so important they would've chalked up the extra cash and put a 1st on him. And according to that ProFootballFocus site everyone loves to use to proven Bodden is so great, Cromartie had a better year than Marshall. Cromartie was ranked 56th and Marshall 78th. I personally don't think that site is a great reference, but it is used by posters often to help evaluate players.

1.) PFF is useless if you're looking at its formulas. Hell, it's worse than useless.

2.) PFF's data does sometimes contain inaccuracies, so double-checking whenever possible is definitely the way to go.

3.) Cromartie hasn't been the same since he got hurt in his second season.

4.) If Cromartie can regain his rookie form, the Jets might well end up having the best defense in the league, for real, this year.

Marshall > Cromartie.

But anyway, I can understand why we've not locked Bodden up - he's said he'd like to come back, and I imagine we have some kind of gentleman's agreement where he lets us know what kind of deal he's been offered and allows us the chance to match it.

I hope so anyway.

Gee ... :confused3: ... another WTF is Belichick thinking thread ... who woulda thunk it. :confused2:

Albert Breer says the Patriots were negotiating with Bodden before and through the deadline. Something may still be done to keep him here. But now it looks like Dunta Robinson may soon be signing with the Falcons and that may dictate how much money the Pats will have to pony up to keep him.

Here's hoping that Dunta takes a hometown discount. Apparently, he's from the Atlanta area and just wants to be close to home.

That's encouraging their still talking at least, I'm wondering with the pats focusing so much on all of these players restricts them from targeting other free agents.

Well if Bodden bolts its just another hole to fill, on a team right now that has alot to fill..

I am being objective, the Jest may be getting him for the equivalent of a 2010 4th, but stop and think why SD would let him go for so "little?" Ryan may have loved his workout years ago, but the team that's been playing him is giving him away for a reason.

That makes perfect sense. Any player a team will let go for a 4th is probably useless. In fact, I'm sure patriot fans can't think of a single player in their own recent history who could be used as an example to refute that argument

why??? they've had a whole year to back up the truck.......

Classic NEP case when resigning or losing a player. Bodden thinks he's worth more than the Pats do. "Ok, go see what other teams think you are worth and let me know." BB has a set $$ limit and we all know it; maybe that limit has been adjusted upwards because of the league becoming pass happy and maybe it hasn't. Either way BB's positional $$ value is still there, and BB has never backed up the truck for a CB.

One whom his previous team had been trying to trade last summer and right up to the trade deadline? I'll think on it.

Bodden's gonna be rich. Good for him.

I have to stop reading this thread its making my head hurt.

Here, let me help:

Looks familiar, but I don't recall his previous team trying to dump him until he started trying to shoot his way out of town. But keep trying convince me Cromartie is the second coming of a football player.
