Bob Kraft on Team Mac - no trade

Nope.

Because year 2 is where a QB proves if he is real or a fraud. 32 NFL teams have had all off season to break down all your film. They know a lot more when it comes time to defend against you. Strengths, tendencies, weaknesses. Eventually some DC cracks the code and the other NFL teams follow suit if they have the personnel.

Brady struggled in year 2 and the Pat's missed the playoffs.

Patricia and Judge did not tell Bmac to throw stupid passes into coverage. Nobody told Bmac to short arm TDs that other QBs would make.

The blame game is full on just like it was with Bledsoe. His loyal followers blamed everyone else too. Then Brady stepped in and won with the exact same people that weren't good enough for Bledsoe.

Bledsoe left and went on to be like he always was and Bmac will be the same exact way. Nobody will fix him because he is not good enough.

That isn’t what happened. Patricia looked at Jones’ skill sets and decided to build an offense designed to exploit Jones’ weaknesses and minimize his strengths. There were no presnap reads or adjustments. No play action under center. The offense was designed to only really look at the first or second read. The routes were designed so receivers would be in bunches making it easier for defenders to take away multiple receiving options.

Even most people who don’t think Mac is the guy admit Patricia set him up for failure.

The league figuring out that the Patriots couldn't stop the run was a much bigger reason why they missed the playoffs. Brady was better in year 2 in a lot of ways than he was in year 1.
Not sure of the context of the quote bolded, but the defense was really bad in 2002. Brady and the offense was better, but he was still a young QB. The Pats were now the hunted and not floating under the radar anymore. **** Vermeil exposed their defense in an early meeting running Priest Holmes relentlessly with other teams following that formula. While he had his struggles, Tom still had a lot of comeback wins in 2002 and the Pats would've been a sub .500 team without him.

Mac needs to figure things out quickly and put together a solid season as there's a lot of money at stake for him on the table.

Zappe was clowned by the 32nd ranked defense in football and showed nothing in his 4 game stint that any other backup QB in the league wouldn't have done.

Might as well cheer for Mac to be the guy because if he's not then the Patriots are back to the drawing board to look for the guy. QB purgatory sucks.
You're right, back to back 100+ passer ratings are so easy to come by with rookies

Mac did that in 2021. Mike White was a practice roster QB until 2021 and he did it too. Tua did it in 2020. So did Wentz in 2016. I don't think it's that rare.

Most backup QB's can have good stretches for a short time, they're just not good enough to sustain it. That's why they're backups.
