Bills Ryan Fitzpatrick playing on par with Brady?

Are you kidding? Of course that tape is still relevant. He might have changed or improved a few things since he played for the Bengals, but he's still going to be the same type of player.

He started 9 games for the Bills last year and 12 for the Bengals in 2008. That's more than enough film for teams to get a feel for this guy.

If you say so. Players play different in different systems. If you are running different plays you aren't making the same decisions, which means your tendencies change.

Are you saying Gailey is using Van Pelt's system?

Are you saying that he suddenly just got better? Or do you think the new system might be a better fit for him?

Let me get this straight. Bottom line, what you are saying is that a guy who has been in the league for 6 years and has started 27 games in the NFL, under 4 different OC's, suddenly "got it" this season? And it has nothing to do with the new system and the lack of tape showing his decision making in this new system?

Got it.

No, it really isn't because it's not about his game it's about his present teams game when he is playing. Gailey is the defacto OC as well as HC and that represents yet another wholesale change for a team that had it's OC canned before the season last year and is on it's 15th regime change and 5th (unless you count interims) HC in the last decade.

Honestly, some of you really just don't get the game other than playing it as a paper exercise or on video game screens.

If we don't improve our passing game, we will suffer the same fate as last year. We must improve our passing game to be legit superbowl contenders. Tom brady is considered an elite qb, he has to produced 4000 yards and 25 tds no excuses.
Based on that logic here are some "legit superbowl contenders":

- San Diego (2-5); Rivers: 335 ypg, 13 TD
- Denver (2-5); Orton: 306 ypg, 11 TD
- Cincinnati (2-4); Palmer: 283 ypg, 10 TD
- Dallas (1-5); Romo: 268 ypg, 11 TD

Looking at the statistical leaders for yards per game and touchdown passes, I see no correlation at all between good and bad teams. If anything I see just the opposite.

You guys are getting cut up in the last 2 wins and not looking at the big picture. Despite 4 turnovers, we only beat the chargers by 3 points.
So you would feel more comfortable if Brady had the numbers of one of the four quarterbacks listed above even if it meant the Pats had their won-loss record too? Is the 'big picture' you refer to style points, and winning by large margins? If anything I'd prefer to have a mentally tough team that knows what it takes to win close games against good teams that go down to the wire.

News flash: despite their record San Diego is actually a good team, with a very good defense. Their problem is special teams and mental lapses. Opponents have passed for 68, 173, 220, 82, 159, 198, and 159 yards against them this year. Not sure why you would presume that Brady should have thrown for a ton of yards against the Chargers.

Sorry to hear that you drafted Brady for your FF team and his stats haven't lived up to your expectations.

Oh right, I don't get the game, great counter argument.

I'm sure the Patriots threw out all the film on Fitzpatrick for the Bills game just because he's in a new system now. Yeah, that makes a ton of sense.

I watch Fitzpatrick and I see a guy who is making a lot of accurate throws, whatever the system is. I don't think his development has been "sudden," I think the team has gotten better as a result of the HC and development of guys like Steve Johnson, and it's allowed Fitz to play better football.

The new system isn't anything people haven't seen before... give me a break. Gailey's been in the league for years and so has his system.

I wouldn't go as far to say he's playing on par with Brady, but Fitzpatrick cannot catch one break from his defense. We've put up 26PPG with Fitz under center, which will usually win you a game 99 times out of 100. However, his defense has been outright atrocious. Our defense has given up 30+ PPG going back to the Green Bay game. That's 6 games in a row!

If our defense was even average, we very well may have walked out of Baltimore with a win. We'd probably win the Jacksonville game with a better defense, and dare I say it, the New England game would've been very winnable with ANY defense better than the product that we have been fielding.

Notice how once Fitz goes under center and not Edwards, Evans and Johnson start making plays. Which makes me appreciate the fact Trent Edwards will never take a snap for Buffalo again.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - he makes losing fun!

I can't believe a thread of comparing Fitzpatrick to Brady has gotten 9 pages worth of posts. Fitzpatrick is exceeding expectations, but let's get a little real here.

Just want to clarify that I don't believe Fitzpatrick is anywhere near Brady's level. I think he's just a better player than people give him credit for. He gives the Bills what they need atm: a guy who is fearless and can make some pretty decent throws.

Do you think the Bills would take Brady and a 7th for this stud ?

No. But I do wonder if a trade would be possible for Ryan Fitzpatrick including a couple of picks and Mankins. What a backup to groom for the future! The guy is smart, makes good reads and is level headed under pressure.

Fitzpatrick....8-17 for 66 yards in the first half...no points...Chiefs lead 7-0

nice thread Putzamissedit Pete
