In 4 years of drafting with New England, Parcells got

Drew Blesdsoe
Troy Brown
Chris Slade
Willie McGinist
Ted Johnson
Tedi Bruschi
Curtis Martin
Ty Law
Lawyer Milloy
Terry Glenn

I mean that is an unbelievable quality of talent, and what's more impressive about it is Parcells hit BIG in a bunch of different positions. He hit on all our skill positions on offense(Pro Bowl players at QB, RB, WR Bledsoe Glenn Martin) he hit on pass rushers(McGinist, Slade),hit on run stuffing linebackers(Johnson Bruschi), hit on secondary(Law Milloy)....He set us up greatly for those superbowl winning teams. Parcells didn't have a lot of success with lineman, but I think the current patriots need to do a little less hitting on lineman and a little more hitting on the skilled position players.

Drafting defense! McGinest, Law, Johnson, Milloy and Bruschi in a 3 year span is pretty damn good and they all played on the 2001 SB team. I'd love to see the current team add defensive players like that.

On the other hand, the 94 draft had Lee in the 2nd who caught a whole 8 passes for the Pats and two 3rd rounders who didn't even make it out of training camp.

The 1994 draft was a hit with Willie McGinest alone though. I mean how many times did that guy come up big for us in the clutch for 10 + years?

Now didnt he leave town because he was NOT responsible for "groceries" the last year?? That Terry Glenn pick?? I dont think you can give him 100% responsibility, Bobby Grier was player personnel right? Or was that another administration?

1996 NFL draft for the patriots have to be the best first 3 rounds in franchise history

Terry Glenn is still the most talented WR we ever drafted(BY FAR). Had he stayed and played with Brady, he would have been a consistent pro-bowl WR and maybe future hall of famer.

How can you give him credit for that draft when he slammed the door and left the room because he totally disagreed with the Glenn pick?

SHE was a great pick but drafting that high Parcells wanted a pass rusher and he didnt get it....and we lost that SB. Glenn was made of glass(ankle/collarbone) AND was a head case/diva, not a good combo and was the singular reason BP left town.

95 and 96 are very impressive, but it's not so spectacular outside that. A couple of great players mixed in with lots and lots of busts. It also wasn't just Parcells drafting those guys.

Your giving Glenn a bad rap. Glenn got almost 1200 yards receiving as a ROOKIE(a record at the time)...He had insane hands, was very fast, made incredible catches, had great vertical, and put up very good numbers over his career. I actually think he underachieved a bit, his talent level was off the charts. He gave us the # 1 WR we desperately needed.

95 was better.

your right  two amazing 3 rounds back to back, im flabbergasted the talent we got in rounds 2-3 back then when we are getting players like tyrone mckenzie, brandon tate, darius butler, ron brace, terrence wheatley, shawn crable, kevin oconnell in rounds 2-3 these days :bricks:

Irving Fryar and Stanley Morgan were pretty talented too.

Glenn underachieved more than a bit. He was a world class knucklehead who literally quit on the 2001 SB team.

Do you remember the one game he played with Brady in 2001 against San Diego? There chemistry was unbelievable. Glenn had 4 catches for like 140 yards and 1 TD, and he made a couple INSANE catches on the sidelines no one on our team today could make. Only game Glenn ever started with Brady as his QB.

If just 2-3 of those players were hits we'd be looking a lot better especially on D.

Why do the super talented receivers have to be such pea brains?

Moss, Glenn, Fryar

LOL...slow down, cowboy. Ever heard of Stanley Morgan? If not, you may want to Google him. Your contention is (BY FAR) the most ludicrous I have heard in a long, long time...

Stanley Morgan more talented than Terry Glenn? Glenn made some of the best catches I have ever seen. He was like a much faster, better route running version of Brandon Lloyd.
