Here's my feeling on this. He hits our target weight. Typically we like guys around 320.Smith isn't a 1st rounder by the measurements the Pats usually go by. His vertical is low.
Paul, on the other hand, is intriguing. 4.89 - 40 for a big man is pretty ridiculous. 4.83 Shuttle. Could be a Karras replacement since he's played all 5 OL positions. Love to hear @BaconGrundleCandy chime in.
His 40 is better than the average we look for, 5.02 > 5.27. 3C is better 7.78 > 7.84.
20 yard shuttle 4.65 > 4.74
Broad Jump 8.9 > 8.6
So he beats the "average" #'s we usually target just falls shy by an inch and half in the vert.
So I look and see he hits or beats most of our #'s. And he's very talented which bumps him up a little. That factors in a lot too.
I'm actually going to put him on. Going through all that stuff now to see threshold and benchmarks for each position.
