BGC 2022 IOL/PTP Thread

Smith isn't a 1st rounder by the measurements the Pats usually go by. His vertical is low.

Paul, on the other hand, is intriguing. 4.89 - 40 for a big man is pretty ridiculous. 4.83 Shuttle. Could be a Karras replacement since he's played all 5 OL positions. Love to hear @BaconGrundleCandy chime in.
Here's my feeling on this. He hits our target weight. Typically we like guys around 320.

His 40 is better than the average we look for, 5.02 > 5.27. 3C is better 7.78 > 7.84.

20 yard shuttle 4.65 > 4.74

Broad Jump 8.9 > 8.6

So he beats the "average" #'s we usually target just falls shy by an inch and half in the vert.

So I look and see he hits or beats most of our #'s. And he's very talented which bumps him up a little. That factors in a lot too.

I'm actually going to put him on. Going through all that stuff now to see threshold and benchmarks for each position.

Has Nebraska center Cam Jurgens been in this thread?

We need a replacement for David Andrews when he is done. Jurgens could be it.

BCG mentioned him and likes him.. My question is this: "Does Jurgens have enough game awareness to be able to pick-up twists/Stunts and delayed A-Gap Blitzes? " If no, then pass. If yes, then I'm all for it.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Patriots do in regards to their O-line coaching. Whether or not Popovich is back or they have Dante consult or what. Because, that's one of the biggest issues with the O-line.. Bricillo and Yates seem to be in over their head. As I stated in another thread, NONE of the O-line have been consistent this year. And, personally, it was a HUGE mistake putting Onwenu on the bench in favor of Karras. Onwenu was consistently their best O-linemen while Brown was out. Yet, they put HIM on the bench??? Makes zero sense. It's just awesome that Onwenu is so selfless and is willing to do whatever the team wants.
Good question. Popovich was the brains of the operation when the young coach was paired with Bricillo. A little birdie told me this.

I expect Popovich to be back now that the virus hysteria has subsided.

And LT can be manned by Wynn and a resigned Brown. Wynn is likely to be out multiple games if the past is prologue.

Put Onwenu at RT! Now that Bricillo is in Las Vegas maybe sanity with Onwenu will come to the fore. Keep him on the right side.

Little Billy: We don’t need to draft no young, talented C/G on Day3… I just re-signed Thanksdad Ferentz!

Championship…

Any mid/late prospects with high upside like a Shaq Mason?

The two guys in this draft I love are Jamaree Salyer from Georgia and Dylan Parham from Memphis.

Plug Salyer in at OG and he is a mauler from day 1. I think he would pair really well with Onwenu on the right side.

Parham is one of my pound the table guys in this draft. He has an excellent anchor, really good mobility and sustains his blocks really well. I think he could start at LG but ultimately I see him as a Pro Bowl C in the future. He could be the successor to David Andrews.

Both guys seem to be late round 2 to mid round 3 value, although I wouldn’t be shocked if someone takes a flier in Parham in the late 1st.

No interest whatsoever in Parham before the middle of Day 3... Too small... Bill needs to draft a LT first anyway.

I think Sailor of Georgia is a must have for us in this draft at left guard.

He is a monster run blocker and might have enough lateral agility to be fairly successful as a pass blocker,

We need to take a player like Trey Smith, a second round talent from Tennessee Vols, who fell all the way to the sixth round because of blood clotting medical issues. Damn Chiefs got him. pick 229.

He would look mighty nice now paired with Onwenu on the right side.

Are there any iol with a medical red flag that could similarly pan out?

There must be one or two but it's late I'm kind of blanking.

Day 3 under-the-radar guys could include versatile players like Michigan State’s Kevin Jarvis and Kentucky’s Luke Fortner, an older player and a true student-athlete, who went from guard to center for his senior season.

Jarvis was forced to play OT but in the pros figures to be a guard, which he excelled in more.

Both I think are three-year starters, Ohio boys who are squeaky clean characters, and hard workers.

Who needs a PFWA 1st-team All-Rookie OLman when we have Billy my boy Sherman?

You're the same person who thinks that Winfield is a good Safety and that Dugger sucks.. Despite Winfield having given up 6TDs as a rookie.. You're always 20/20 hindsight things and while pretending you called for such and such a player instead. I'm pretty sure that monkeys throwing their poop at the stock sheets are more correct than you are.

Gee. I can't imagine why the Pats might have taken an OL with blood clot issues off their board. . . .

@BaconGrundleCandy - Any thoughts on this guy as a late round addition for Center and a replacement for Ferentz?

Udfa type. Not sure he has the natural athleticism or size. He does a lot of things right though. He's one of those guys that if he can control it he'll make it work. Very good fundamentals, effort and play smarts.
