These are really good numbers. 24 reps isn't bad at all for someone who everyone knows has to get a little stronger. Which is the last thing you're worried about with a guy with that frame.

Solder - 4.96 40 , 32 Vert, 110 inches BJ, 4.34 SS, 7.44 3C

Radunz - 5.11, 32 Vert, 112, 4.53, 7.27

Guess that Captain was wrong again.. I'm shocked..

Elijah Molden, Washington (5-foot-10½, 192 pounds): Often compared to Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker (5-foot-9½, 193 pounds, 4.50 40), the Cardinals’ second-round pick in 2017 from Washington. “The Washington staff talks about the kid like he’s Baker,” said one scout. “He doesn’t have that kind of movement. Quicker than fast. He’s small, and he isn’t flat-out fast for being that small. He is a scrappy little guy. We see him as a nickel.”

Backed up for two seasons before starting for the final two. “His greatest strength is his instincts,” said another scout. “He’s got twitch and body control. He can play nickel or safety. He’s similar to Taylor Rapp (of the Rams). He’s a special kid. He’ll play on special teams. Second round.” Elijah’s father, Alex, was the Saints’ first-round draft choice in 1996. He played cornerback for three teams in an eight-year career. “He’s a little Honey Badger,” a third scout said in reference to Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu. “He’s like a safety-nickel. I have him top of the third round.”

Had five interceptions and 19 passes defensed. “He’s a good, good player,” said a fourth scout. “He is tough. He runs around and gets to the ball. He’d be a really good cover guy for a safety, not for a corner. If you’re looking for the Budda Baker-type guy and you ignore the size, this is your guy. Somebody might get desperate and go first (round).” Had a history of injuries in high school, including surgery to repair a skull fracture in 2015.

Do you think that Molden is the kind of player who could become the next DMac? Play the centerfield as well as move up on occasion to cover?

His agility-short area stuff was impressive and that's all that matters really. Somewhat comparable to Nate otherwise. His arms are almost 34 and his hands are almost the same I believe. This was a big win for Radunz, I have np being objective and saying if he didn't.

He needs experience, strength and some technique work. Something else that doesn't get mentioned enough is his mentality. He wants to fight and gives a ton of effort. Put 10-15 pounds on him with that attitude and you might have something special. Love his versatility too.

I might put him at S. Honestly I think so but it would be a big ask at first. I've loved Molden for a while now though. You can play him everywhere and ask a lot of him. Tough, smart & versatile to a T.

Just listened to a long pod with Chris Sims who get roasted here because of his Brady takes, But to me comes across as a very knowledgeable source on QB's. He thinks Lance is NOT a first round pick. He is not a natural thrower and has just too few reps in an offense that is as far from what he will see in the NFL as it can get. He is likely a 2 year project for the team that picks him and he could end up being a great pick....but not in the first round. If II were Chris Simms how would you counter?

That being said Simms discussed another project guy who isn;'t getting a lot of ink in the QB discussion and who Simms thinks is a better prospect because he IS a natural thrower and has had 4 years of increasing production in college. Kellen Mond is the guy he was talking about. What do you think. Is he the guy who could last until the 2nd round and is he as good as Simms thinks he is?

I’ve been pumping Mond

I'm assuming you're asking how I'd counter Simms?

Very easily

First things first. Simms is very knowledgeable, a lot more than me. He could teach me X&O's for days. Unfortunately that doesn't make one great at prospect evaluation.

1)Simms seems to be forgetting that he had Josh Allen as QB1 a few years ago. A two year project with more than a few issues. Also Lance threw for more passes than Allen did in their final years. They both played weak comp but Lance put up a 66% comp rating (10 points higher than Allen) & a 28/0! TD/INT ratio.

So Simms is simply contradicting himself here and looks way off.

2)Lance isn't a "natural thrower"? Nonsense, absolute trash. What do you want to see? Touch, placement, velocity? Mechanics, footwork, pocket presence? Ability to work from under center? How about them all?

Not a "natural thrower"? Let's leave opinion out of this shall we?

I'll post a few more clips but the idea that Lance isn't a natural passer or a pocket passer and a very good one is wrong.

His mechanics are as good as anyone in the class. They can get a little messy at times but everyone does at times but consistently he's really good. And a big worker in this area. Feet are firing, usually always balanced putting him in a good spot. Front shoulder stays tight for the most part. Moves a little but he's always working on it.

Poise, feel and pocket presence are as good as it gets. He looks like a teach tape for movement with his feet and base moving him around and keeping him balanced. Really nice feel and all around vision to step up, slide, manipulate a pocket or just create a new platform. Never panics.

Arm talent is as good as anyone in the class. Probably the strongest. At times nice touch, placement and accuracy. Far hash, deep corner/post, touch on short stuff has all been displayed. He needs to work on timing and anticipation a little but he's 20. I mean at some point that has to really be brought up again. He's not close to his final form.

Play making ability is crazy Ken. Scrambling, designed runs, power-the kid is a pick-up truck at 6'3 225. He's built for today's game but can absolutely beat you in the pocket and prefers to. He wants to win that way. Short, intermediate, deep, he can work all areas.

His toughness and leadership can't be overstated. The past year he's been working with Q Avery who's been working with Watson and other QB's to get better. You hear him speak today and he talks about treating others right. He's been working out with his Dad since he was a kid. Always had that competition with his younger bro who will be starting at Bama next year.

He absolutely has to work on some things and clean them up but let's not pretend that Lawrence doesn't either. Lance has started as many games as Mac Jones. Has more pass attempts than Josh Allen and played as weak comp as Zach Wilson yet you don't really hear those things brought up about them?

For instance I've been talking about how Wilson & Lance have to work on progressing through the MOF and working certain concepts in that area for months. I've only heard maybe one person from the media bring that up and their still somewhat of an amateur & like 21 (follow Ben Solak). So while Simms and others know their stuff pertaining to certain aspects of the game sometimes their just wrong and looking for attention. The concerns are there with Lance, like they are with Lawrence, Wilson, Jones, & Fields but he's wrong in the above analysis.

I have a 3rd on Mond. I wouldn't mind him in the 3rd or 4th. His biggest issues going forward are pocket presence and in 4 years and it hasn't really improved. Slow coming off his reads. Can't find his hot route or really figure it out under pressure. Really nice arm talent. At times nice accuracy and placement but inconsistent. I think he could be a good back up but who knows.

@patfanken A little more on Lance

The above clips of Dak are to help open up his hips but also and maybe more importantly. It's a repetition rep to help keep that front shoulder tight. Lance gets a little loose at times but he's clearly been practicing

He's been working with Quincy Avery (QB coach) since last fall I believe. Specifically on mechanics & movements.

Initially, I wanted QB Zach Wilson for NE, but didn’t realize how quickly his stock would rise/recognition heightened. He shot up consensus draft boards overnight. So...yeah, he’s clearly out of reach. I’ve also always loved Trey Lance & would do backflips if we somehow were able to draft him (as unlikely as it seems). He’s literally the “perfect/prototypical” QB prospect, minus the small school comp & lack of substantial starts...(Height/Weight/Football IQ/Speed/Awareness/Arm Strength/Coachable/Played a ton under Center etc..)
However, if we can’t/don’t, I wouldn’t mind QB Davis Mills or Kellen Mond; not really a Trask guy, but BB may not agree. I personally hate the fact that it’s a weird year, where more teams than usual (in the top half of the draft) need/seem to need/want a QB. Only 3 of the top 15 teams (CIN, DAL & LAC) realistically have no need to take a QB; other than that, it’s every man for themselves out there. I believe slots #4-7 (ATL, CIN, PHI & DET), with #9 (DEN) are the sweet spots which could greatly alter the draft regarding QBs available. We may need to/be able to swing a deal with one of these teams...assuming this is the direction BB is headed; which is always futile haha)

The backflips or that we land Lance here?

@BaconGrundleCandy - You're starting to piss me off royally. I had no idea Lance was THIS good, and now you've gotten my hopes up that somehow NE will land him, when I think we all know that it won't happen. So I'll see some other team get to develop him into a total stud. I wish you'd have not gotten me all excited about this guy because it's going to be such a huge letdown when they inevitably don't get him.

(In all seriousness, you're doing great work here.)
