Morgan has Hall of Fame states... Canton's Hall of Fame, not just the Patriots'.

He's #1.

What is sad he isn't in the Patriots HOF how pathetic is that he is not in there.

What a Friggin' deep threat!!! There will never be another to have 6 straight years of 20+ YPR. Actually under-utilized in late 70s and early 80s, when we ran so much......(most others teams were same way though, when dbs could mug you all way downfield).......The great Lynn Swann's stats pale in comparison (amazing what a couple unreal catches in the Superbowl can do for a guy)....I think if the Steamer played for the Steelers and either Swann or Stallworth came to the Pats - they don't lose a thing.....and the Steamer wouldn't have had to bobble that ball like Swanny did, he would have picked it clean and taken to the house.....and if Grogan was a Steeler instead of Bradshaw.........................................................................

here is my top 5

Troy Brown 3 rings brings everything you want out of a FOOTBALL player and all time leading receptions
Stanley Steamer is two no doubt
Geno Cappiletti led all time points till AV
Ben Coates may not really be a WR but definitely top 5 target in team history
Irving Fryar really good and continued to be after leaving

I'm not ripping your opinion, but I have to believe that anybody who does not put Stanley Morgan 1st never saw him play.

Looking solely at the WR position, Morgan. If returning kicks, punts and playing DB when needed is factored in, then Troy Brown.

Morgan's 1986 season is one of the best ever for any WR...almost 1500 yards and 10 TDs on over 80 catches. Eighty catches then would be like 100 today. Receivers back then rarely eclipsed the 100-catch mark whereas now it's fairly common.

Regards,
Chris

how many rings does steamer have, IMO being the best in a team history has a lot to do with winning and also how you served the team and nothing against steamer but Troy destroys him in those category's. He also has passed him the record books, while he will never get close to steamers yards but receptions is a big stat for recievers. Steamer is a really close two and his down the field play is the best in patriot history and he was a great all around reciever and if he had had Brady he probably would have won alot too. hmmmmm That sounds cool Brady to Steamer but I am getting off topic.

No truer words have been written. For those who are promoting Troy, we love Troy.

Fact is Stanley Morgan was peerless in the history of great Patriots receivers. Unless you saw him play, you can't even begin to imagine.

If rings are your criteria, Andruzzi destroys John Hannah in those categories, so he is best guard in Pats history....

1) Troy
2) Troy
3) Troy
4) Troy
5) Troy

Any questions?

thats not what im saying, Izzo isnt better than Tippett but If you are close enough overall than rings take you over the top not to mention everything else Troy has done PR and DBs on the back burner and just think of all the special things troy has done as a receiver clutch first down after clutch first down. Through three championships he was the go to guy on 3 and 6 or less, and to say that doesn't go into the equation is foolish.

Hannah is still the best Linemen in Pats history if that gives you any consulation to my my opinion. If I wasnt busy joking about Mo lewis I would have said Tippett was the best LBer in history because while bruschi and willie are great I dont think their rings take them over Tippett. But IMO Troy has done enough to pass steamer but only by a hair.

1. Morgan
2. Brown
3. Who cares?

Brown is the "greatest" Pats receiver, and Morgan was the "best".

Mogan and Fryar then Troy. Jimmy Colclough was pretty good too!

Stanley Morgan was the best Patriots WR.

I love Troy but I've got to go with Steamer. Think of who Stanley's QBs were and what Troy has had available to him.

going against the grain here.

Morgan had the best career. But when i think of what Patriot had the best ability i ever saw as a wide receiver, untapped as it was, it was Terry Glenn.

What a shame he didnt have a hall of fame career.

I have to take troy brown over Irving Fryar even though Fryar was my favorite reciever in the leauge for a long time.

There are a few very good ones, immediately:
Stanley Morgan
Troy Brown
Darryl Stingley

Stanley Morgan hands down...the man had 19.2 yards per catch. Let me take this opportunity, again, to say we need a Stanley Morgan throwback shirt.

I'm not sure he does. However, every year we hear how Art Monk should be in the Hall but when I look at his numbers and Stanley's I always come up with Morgan as the better player - virtually identical yards per game, many more yards per catch, and more TD in 2 complete seasons less.

I absolutely agree with you on this one.

It was a thing of beauty to see Grogan hand the ball off only to have the RB stop and pitch it back to him. As soon as this happened you knew Morgan was open for a TD bomb. As a young Pats fan back then I was still amazed at how often the play happened while still being effective.

Morgan is the best receiver in Pats history
Brown is most likely the best player seeing that he did so much more then just be a WR
