This is our best WR group since what year?

I think even national media is overrating our WR group. This AJ news is a big story for early June, but we have to be objective.

Diggs was our entire WR threat last year. No one was afraid of anyone else. So we're basically just replacing him with AJ.
And AJ is likely 25% better than Diggs, but was not feared last year either. He is noticeably slower than he was.
So, this could be one of the best WR rooms, but a lot is dependent on how Doubs works out (not looked good so far) and how KW develops and actually produces on the field as the speed element.
25% better than Diggs I would go 40% based on age and statue alone. A.J. was not happy in that Phillly Offense built around Saquan Barkley. He's going be a Monster with Maye.

what does it mean to be afraid of a WR? meaningless.
find the mismatch. catch the ball. get 1st downs. score td's.
AJ Brown does that. Boutte does that. Henry does that. Henderson and Stevenson do that.
I dont care about being afraid or not. make plays. we have targets that do that.

1986
Morgan had 84 receptions, 1491 yds, 18 YPC
Fryar had 43 receptions, 737 yds, 17 YPC

In terms of pure talent, this tandem is in a class only matched by Moss and Welker.
I think late 70's-early 80's Morgan, Jackson, Francis is tough to beat.

In 1986 we could not run the ball, due to Hog's retirement and CJ/TC injuries. The one thing Tony Eason could do is throw the ball. As we all (should) know, there's a lot more to it than passing stats. A lot more.

We're Boston sports fans. Which means we're spoiled rotten.

In every decade of the Patriots' existence, we've had great receivers...Gino obviously belongs in Canton...

And we've had great quarterbacks to throw to them.

I think we'll be okay this year, my biggest concern as always is our failure to commit to the run.

Two (2) total carries by Henderson in the first half of the Super Bowl is fatal. I still don't know who the Seahawks guy is but they didn't abandon the run after he got stuffed a couple times and the guy wins the MVP and the game. Instead of TreVeyon.

Slot WR's weren't popular in the 90's, but Troy Brown was very dependable when called upon.

Brisby was never the same after the 1995 season. Made some nice plays when was able to play from 1997-1999.

Tony Simmons should some promise in 1998 as a rookie, but declined the following two seasons.

Doubs has flashes, but overall has been pretty mediocre as the primary WR in GB. I do want to see Williams push for a lot of playing time.

No good secondary was even afraid of Stefan Diggs. Many posters got triggered when I said it as early as the first month of the season, but he was absolutely cooked like 1999 Terry Allen. It took Diggs 17 games to barely muster 1,000 yards when most of his yards came against bad teams and/or secondary's. That's why he was cut and still available at his age.

Even when given time by the OL, Diggs got bullied in the playoffs.
Doubs reminds me of Brisby. Can't remember what his injury was, it happened in the 1996 pre-season. And he was never close to the production from his first 3 years after that.

this could be one of the best WR rooms, but a lot is dependent on how Doubs works out (not looked good so far) and how KW develops and actually produces on the field as the speed element.
