It will be telling who’s the back up this week. If Grier is still the emergency QB and Zappe is the back up then that sends the message that Grier isn’t ready.

It is clear that no matter what the Patriots think of Mac Jones, they clearly don't think Zappe can play. They have been trying to replace him since they cut him and sent him to the practice squad.

I would like to see them give Zappe a chance at a full game with a week of first team practice. He’s just being tossed in halfway through absolute blow outs. It’s not giving him much of a chance at succeeding.

Part of the reason why Zappe looked so bad in preseason is the 5+ targets to Cunny who didn't know what to do out there (sit in a route, drops, etc).

For all we know, they may have - if they ever did plan to move to Cunningham, they certainly wouldn't leak it. They'd want to take their opponent by surprise in-game, who had probably game-planned for Mac Jones.

I would be very happy to see Grier or Cunningham. Zappe can look at times more confident with better arm and decision making than Jones but the execution is not there. He had two golden oppty passes last week - missed badly - not close. Jones is awful. Lets go..

C'mon man - Malik was a "practice player of the week" 2 weeks ago. He was "on point". You know black jersey don't crack jersey. (Weird Zappe was a practice player of the week, too... This team just doesn't make sense right now.)

I don’t think Cunningham is anything more than a scout team QB. Based on the fact they brought in Corral, Ian Book, and Grier, as well as elevated Zappe they don't think of Cunningham as an NFL QB right now.
