They weren’t 5-11 I don’t know why people keep saying that. They were 7-9.
They also lost 4 games with a combined 20 turnovers. They were a good team held back by a int machine at qb. With Brady they were 11-5 one game worse that the 2019 Patriots were with Brady.
Thanks - I was just going off the record others posted...didn't bother to check. But yes, they were primed for a run.

Whose to say Chubb wouldn’t have run through those gigantic holes created by the o line in the 2018 playoffs?
Michel was already a skilled blitz blocker. Chubb wasn't. I expect that's why Bill went with Michel. Both of them were on every ranking as top 5, usually top 3.

I brought them up because it led to the events of trading for Talib and Revis. 2016 first round pick was forfeited (which we all know was ridiculous) and 2017's 1st round pick was traded for Cooks (solid move). While they flipped him for a 1st round pick in 2018 (solid move), not many thought they were going to use the pick on a short armed OL (bad move).
Many of the draftniks on this board through Wynn was the very best coming out. Even as a tackle, not a guard. I remember that draft well (here on this board) and most people were thrilled with the pick.

The injury changed everything. Wynn, on the rare occasions when he was healthy, was pretty damned good.

I forgot he tore his ACL his rookie year and had to look it up.

I think if the Krafts feel so emotionally tied to Mayo that it feels like a marriage then they have gone far astray from their roles as owners. The head coach is an employee, it shouldn’t be any more complex than that.
I remember Bob talking about hiring Bill and saying how it was like picking a wife. I would say the marriage thing has worked pretty well for them, so far.

True, I do remember that. I guess that one worked out. Still seems like being a bit too personally invested though, no?

Yeah, but even if you don't take it quite so literally, there's a lot invested in Wolf and Mayo both in terms of salary and goodwill. If Kraft thinks there's still the possibility that they can turn it around, I can see why he might think it best to exhaust that rather than cutting ties too early.

I also don't like the optics it sends thru the locker room basically says this year wasn't your fault it was the coaches fault. Ultimately this doesn't matter if you don't think Mayo and the collaboration are capable of turning it around but I don't like scape goating. Unless of course it's Mac (f that guy lol).

I find that backwards. We shouldn’t have decision making and coaching in place that might have a chance to be capable. We should name every effort to be incredibly confident as close to certain as possible that they are capable.
Doubt should equal firing, not a longer leash.

If we are following the girlfriend and wife analogy the only way Mayo isn't around next year is if he turns up pregnant by another owner. ALA Ricki Lander. LOL

To continue the wife analogy, Kraft needs to work on it before giving up and getting divorced. Mayo isn’t just a quickie driveby massage.

1) Nobody

2) Everybody
I don't think Kraft is going to do either but it should be an all or nothing type thing. Unfortunately I think Mayo and Wolf stay but I expect a lot of scapegoating down the line and I don't like it.

Of course he would have, and more. Those claiming otherwise are Excuse-Makers.

At the very least, the WR coaches, the OL coaches & the DC all must be fired on Black Monday. I also believe that, unfortunately, the FO, HC & the rest of his staph all stay, though AVP could go either way; those comments by Jonathan from the owner's box were revealing...

So you blame the WR coach and the OL coach?
OL wasn't well stocked to begin with and was decimated by injury. WR I don't like giving Polk and Baker a pass and just blaming the coaches.

I can see blaming the defense but from a coach standpoint that's more on Mayo as a defensive minded HC.

It really should be all or nothing. There really is little case for nothing other than one year is really quick.

So I lean towards all but I just can't get myself to fully commit to a reset so I can see where the Kraft's will wind up middling it and I just wish as management they would have more conviction either way than me.

That's a pretty big statement. What are you basing that on?
This is twice he’s out with the clots. It’s a difficult condition to treat. His case is treatment resistant at lower levels of blood thinners. Blood thinners are risky for professional athletes, especially if they play contact sports. There’s risk of brain bleeding, bleeding from trauma, organ damage…

This is a career ender. He’s already made millions of dollars. Does he want to lose his life to make a few million more?

Bold claim, but where do you want to put your money?
