Sounds like you want him to fail
I do not want anything on the team to fail. I just have to go by what I see. He has never been a great passing QB, his success has come with his ability to use his legs. The problem with that is that does not get better with age. If his legs go and he is expected to be a drop back QB, what do I have to go by to say he will bring the team the success doing that in order to get us where we want to be? I tend to not predict things or guess. I take what I know and what I see and until that changes, that is my thought process. Its not really even about Cam. I think adding what he does to a team that relies on pre snap reads, accuracy, knowing the offense, and quick passing was the mirror opposite of what Cam brings a team, I never liked the fit and I think the reason he is here is because nobody wanted him and he was cheap.

Oh I do not think he would do that either, I was just saying the 1st overall guy might not be better than the 4th or 5th guy, I understand what you mean about how much there is to give up to not have more options.
It doesn’t matter how many other QBs are drafted, it matters how good they are. Any of the 5 are far better prospects than anything we have, and have a far better chance than any other way we could acquire one. If you don’t trade up to get one we have a disappointing year and are right back here next year arguing again that trading up to solve the gaping hemorrhaging hole in the roster costs too much.

he’s good enough to be league mvp and get to the Super Bowl ... so I can see when you don’t predict things since you can’t even recall the past.

I get it ... you’re pining for another Tom Brady, but Tom Brady is gone ... there is no Tom Brady

Perhaps you are right. How many easy throws does an average NFL QB miss in a game? A good NFL QB? I'd like real data on that if we are going to make the comparison. Its too easy to have selective memory.

Here's proof that this guy can't play in the NFL:
There are misses and there are misses. Cam's were MISSSESSS!!!!!!

But Tom Brady instead of cam Newton is an enormous difference.
They played 6 games against playoff teams last year not 8.

Brady went 11-5 during the regular season last year with dramatically better skill position players a significantly better defense and a weaker schedule than the Patriots played last year.

His numbers against playoff teams during the regular season was mediocre at best and he and the Bucs were limping along at 7-5 after the loss to the Chiefs, before playing a cupcake schedule down the stretch to finish at 11-5.

Tell me again how he was going to match that record with last year‘s Patriots roster and schedule? Stop it with your fanboy fantasies.

There were easily 4 more wins with Brady at QB. You are ignoring 8-0 and counting only games where Brady was so injured he couldn’t practice and his elbow was the size of a grapefruit. As far as the schedule 4 of the 5 losses were to playoff teams including all 3 afc division winners.

Aaah, yes. His struggles were all because of the elbow injury. Got it.

They were 8-0 because the defense was putting up absurd numbers in terms of turnovers and defensive points scored, against a week opening schedule. In addition to defensive points scored, all year long Brady and the offense benefited from short fields, due to the defense pinning teams close to their own goal line, along with forced turnovers.

The defense and weak schedule that carried the Patriots to 11-5 in 2019 were both a distant memory last year.

You are trying to rewrite history. You are forgetting that the offense was so anemic (not 2020 anemic but bad nonetheless) that Brady was being asked whether he would be content with being a “game manager”, as long as the Patriots went on to win another championship. Of course, he refused to answer that question, which says a lot about his 2019 attitude.

Better defense, running game coaching, and familiarity with the system. Next question?

Yes a QB with an injury to his throwing elbow that prevents him from practicing who plays drastically below any other time in his career played that way because he was injury. Only a moron couldn’t see that.

Brady was dealing with two injuries at the end of 2019, he also was salty the team cut AB and the guy he lobbied to trade for Sanu got hurt because he had to return punts. We didn't find out about the extent of his injuries until after the season ended, which sometimes colors fan recollections about what actually happened.

That is exactly what I "hated" most about Cam. OK, you can't throw for whatever reason but why are you sitting in the pocket for 10 hyperbolic-minutes just waiting to get crushed???
My guess is that he can't read a defense. At least that's the way he looks. I've heard that he liked the TE in Carolina so I'm also guessing that he'd look for him and if he wasn't open he'd run the ball.

Brady also played well enough to win the KC game but was derailed by a Ravens' fan posing as an official.

The 2019 offense was also far more injured than the 2020 offense. In spite of that Brady took a lot of grief in 2019 but Cant gets flowers thrown at him for 5 fewer wins in 2020.

I did, but I also watched Brady play with broken ribs, a broken foot, tendon damage in his hand, a sports hernia, and not miss a game. Brady has been hit in his career more than any QB in NFL history, he is still playing at 43...I would say that trumps anything you can come up for Cam. The fact you are comparing both QB's hearts and siding with Cam is unreal.
All you need to know about Cam's heart can be seen right here...

The defense almost pulled out that KC game.

Brady was 19/36 for 169 (4.7 YPA) with 1 TD (should have been 2 TDs but play was all due to an excellent effort by Harry) and 1 INT. That’s not playing well. That’s a Hoyer-like stat line.

Edelman played in 16 games in 2019. He was healthy, sort of, for 1-2 games in 2020. That would have been a huge problem for Brady last year.

I can buy 9-7 last year with Brady, but 11-5? No way.

“Better defense”? The Pats? In 2020? WTF are you talking about?

Running game coaching. Lol. You I really grasping at straws.
Patriots allowed fewer points despite having an offense that couldn’t get out of its own way.
Running game and coaching affect winning.

I am still confused about your defense point. I assume you aren’t saying that the Pats defense in 2020 was better than their defense in 2019,

or that the Pats 2020 defense was better than the Bucs 2020 defense.....

because both contentions would obviously be wrong.

?

The Pats defense in 2020 was not better in any aspect of the game than it was in 2019.

I think Brady gets us closer to the playoffs but no guarantee we made it. The Dolphins didn't make it at 10-6.

I am saying it was better than Tampa’s. It allowed fewer points with far less help from the offense.
