I was at the game, and Tedy went down right in front of me. His and Vrabels legs tangled chipping off his blocker. He actually ran a few steps , and then just sat down.

While he was sitting on the turf, he was repeatedly gingerly streching his calf.

My guess is that it is not serious.

NJPF, curious about what you saw them check on Tedy on the sidelines. If he hurt his knee they will do 2 things to look for an injury initially. first is to take the leg by the ankle and waggle it side to side to look for cartilage tears. The second will be to put a hand behind the top of the calf and pull forward to look for ligament damage. If a player noticably reacts to either test, you can get a good guess just watching the trainer/doc do this as to what may be injured. But I did not see them do this initially.

You CAN walk with a torn ACL.....but the trainers/coaches WOULDN'T LET him walk with an ACL tear......if it was something more serious ...he would have been on crutches................GO TEDY

Stones, I tore my ACL twice and I couldn't walk 2 steps without wanting to guzzle an entire bottle of whiskey to kill the pain. It hurt like a MFer.

Game was in hand, 2 weeks of rest ahead, pull him, check him out for due diligence and sit him.
This is what I kept telling myself and the Mrs. last night. I'm hoping for over-cautiousness.

On channel 5 last night they showed Tedy walking without any help and with hardly noticeable limp. I don't think it is as bad as we feared.

However, will he be ready to play Tedy Bru ball in the playoffs is another question. Time will tell & BB.

Grrrrrr........We will not know until tomorrow when the injury report comes out and even then we still will not know. Steve Burton nailed it last night at BB's post-game pc when he asked why Tedy and other starters were on punt coverages in a meaningless game. Of course all we got was BB's stock answer that he was trying to win the game.....blah, blah, blah.

Hey

Hey, I put "IMO" after it. I don't think it was a cramp, though, based on his reaction several times.

It was late and i was tired--after i posted it i saw what yuo had wrote and immediately eddited my post. You must have read it in the 16 seconds it was there before being edited. sorry!

It's an attitude. They're trying to win every game and special teams plays are just as important to Belichick as defensive plays. That's just the way he feels. Who's to say we'd have won 3 Super Bowls without starters on ST. In 2001 Troy Brown was our #1 WR but also a dynamic PR. I guess he shouldn't have been returning punts in case he got hurt ?

You are taking my point to far.... I know how BB feels about this and his attitude about winning. Tedy and Vrabes should not have been covering punts in a MEANINGLESS game.

It wasn't exactly meaningless. There is a question of seeding.

Hopefully it was just a minor cramp and would like to see Bruschi back in top form for playoffs. I hope they do an MRI just to check for soft tissue injuries to ligaments and muscles if his pain persists because x-rays are good to rule out fractures but do not show soft tissue injuries well. But if clinically, he is able to weight bear again without a problem and the pain was just temporary, then he could be cleared to play again without any further testing.

Even aside from the seeding, I don't think Belichick thinks any game is meaningless. Attitude is like being on an up escalator. If you aren't walking up, you're going down. The first playoff game will have been played in two weeks, this is a time to be running up the attitude escalator, not having it move us down.

Couldn't see what they did to him once they got to the sideline. While he was sitting, he had his leg fully extended and was strechng the calf by poiting the toe towards his body.

I agree with you about BB not thinking any game is meaningless. I am just upset because Tedy had to overcome so much just to get back this season and it would be a terrible shame for his season to end this way.

Those testy maternal instincts, our bouncing baby Bru will be back and sticking RBs in time for the playoffs.

What might help with how you perceive these games is to consider them 'practice', BB is patiently training his players to play 60 minutes of high intensity football - the kind needed to win out in the sudden death atmosphere of the playoffs. Which takes us to the adage, 'you play the way you practice.'

I can understand BB on this one. There are three teams. O , D, and ST. You can win the game or lose the game on ST.

What kind of a message would it send to the players if BB said to Vrabes or Bru or others. "Even though the outcome of the game is still in doubt, you guys are too valuable to play on ST in this game".

Now, if this happened in the 4th quarter, with the game in hand, I would agree that Bru, Vrabes, & others should not have been in there. But it happened in the 1st quarter before the game was in hand.

Also, Tedy didn't play until around week 7, so he is at midseason for all his body is concerned. He himself stated he wanted to play as much as possible and of course he gives his all on every play.

I know.....I know....... All of you are right! BOR is right too! I just disagree with BB on this one, because it is Tedy that got hurt. I love the "Full Tilt, Full Time" attitude and the fact that the whole feels this way, BB included...

Then we will call this a lovers spat between you and BB. It happens in all relationships.:singing:

True, there's nothing like a good nights sleep with your own blankets!
