AVP comments about JK being upset @ playcalling.

Of course. That is not the point. Not every play is going to work. The other team is trying too.

Get back to me when one coach on the Pats says "I have to be better". "I have to work harder to teach better, to train better, to recognize the situation and improve the players chances of success". Is it too much for the coaches to take responsibility and work harder after a loss?
They need a PR coach for the coaches tbh

Kraft drove away/fired his HOF HC after winning 6 Super Bowls. Just saying.
You mean the HC who had failed to win a playoff game in 5 seasons, was 72 years old and hiring terrible coaches and forcing his sons to be at the top of the coaching staff?

Kraft gave Belichick free reign to the point where he allowed Belichick to drive away the GOAT.

Kraft gave Belichick all authority until Belichick proved he no longer could run an NFL organization which is why no team wants to hire him in the NFL and why he had to go to college.

That doesn't take away from what Belichick accomplished in his prime, but he is no longer the GM/HC he once was. Kraft's mistake was giving Belichick as much time as he did.

Exactly ... I remember Belichick one time addressing this.
He said if your calling off tackle even if the other team knows the call ... if you execute properly the play will be positive.
If that’s the case, then any play executed properly is a good play. Coaches are never wrong!
If it’s executed with a positive result, it’s a positive result.

Duh.

They’d never expect the same play twice. Especially after it failed the first time.

Here we go again. YAWN.

I’m someone who sits pretty firmly on giving a new regime two seasons or at least one and a half. But I think the absence of accountability is a huge problem and diminishes my hope of improvement from a largely inexperienced staff.

If they took accountability I’d be much more open to giving them one more chance knowing we were going to suck this season to begin with.

Since when does van pelt know anything about calling plays?
I’d say recognizing van pelt sucks at it makes him a better judge of play calling than van pelt.
The fact that you're talking up Jonathan Kraft says it all.

AVP has done a good job with Maye.

Name one single owner in the NFL that has had more success than Robert Kraft.

He saved this team from becoming another NY team based in CT and brought in leadership, which included trading a 1st rd pick for a HC that won 6 superbowls.

The amount of disrespect Kraft gets is ridiculous. Would you rather have Jerry Jones who drove away his HOF HC after winning 3 superbowls because he wanted it all about himself? Or how about Dan Snyder? Or perhaps Woody Johnson is more your guy.

Kraft has had 3 HOF HC for his organization and a lot of people liked Mayo. Mayo is clearly not working and showing his inexperience but to blame Kraft is ridiculous.
The players won those games. Kraft wrote the checks (well, as few as possible).

I had STH friends who were willing to go to Hartford for games. I wouldn't have minded either and I've always lived well north of Gillette.

The Krafts lost a lot with me when they turned on Belichick in the hit-piece documentary. I can only imagine how pissed I'd be if I were Belichick.

Any blame for the putridity of the current team is with the people who picked the players.

Right. I said he has two options:

1) Admit it was a bad call. Undermine himself publicly and give the media/fans pitchforks to further undermine him when he's already under fire.

2) Say the players need to execute better, like he did. Now it looks like he's throwing them under the bus, possibility for conflict/dissention.

Neither help the team. It was irresponsible of the Krafts to be so carefree about what they say in the public eye and create this mess. If you're the owners you don't sit in the public eye and say the playcalling sucks. It's really so simple.
The media is focused on that because a reporter asked an innocent question regarding giving Drake a shot in those situations due to his size/talent and Mayo replied “that’s — … you said it, I didn’t” (which was implying that he wanted to do the same thing but wasn’t listened to. So the natural conclusion is that he was blaming the OC)
If coaches and players are all speaking their minds publicly then they're being led to believe that it's okay. Does anyone have any idea where that could come from if not the owners?

Of course coaches are wrong sometimes, but the consequences of a wrong play by a coach isn't as meaningful as a wrong play by a player. There are some of those that are though. Todd Bowles in TB going for an all-out blitz with 12 seconds left in a tied playoff game was a real whopper.

It comes from Mayo. It’s his philosophy. It’s not like Kraft told him to be like this. This is how he is, and everyone else follows his example as the HC.

During Mayo's celebrity summer internship at a healthcare company, Mayo likely participated in sensitivity training workshops that promoted the values of openness, dialogue, & self-empowerment. No doubt Mayo didn't miss the "How to Ingratiate Oneself with Superiors" seminar during the Future Executives Retreat; perhaps a dress rehearsal for his famous Israeli spiritual sojourn that sealed his future.

Yes that’s the one, look I agreed with a lot of what you said in your message but was just pointing out that Kraft did the same thing under different circumstances. I owe Kraft a lot as being a season ticket holder for the past 37 years as I do GOAT HC and GOAT QB, this team is becoming a laughingstock stock across the league and the owner has to be partly responsible for it. How he decided that Mayo would be the right man to replace Bill is a complete joke and can’t believe he admitted it. For me to believe Bob is really serious about turning this around then he should admit his mistake and fire Mayo and the whole coaching staff.

The Krafts Loyalty is Misplaced: they're going to can both AVP and Covinton and keep Boot Licker Mayo.
I agree that that's the way it feels it's going to happen. Which is a crying shame.
Because no good coord's are coming here with that fool in charge.
How does Kraft not see (with all of his deep value perception) that Mayo is not capable or competent, and the entire standard and character of the team has dropped into the toilet in less that 1 year.

Sorry if this was posted elsewhere. I figured it deserved it’s own thread. I’ve been one to defend AVP because he doesn’t have **** to work with but the way he places the blame on the players is disappointing to me. Very Mayoesque. I’m surprised that ge even commented on it to be honest with you. He just comes off looking bad to me. The accountability on this team is a mess.

I have zero problem with what AVP said; the call was right, the execution failed.......on paper, they had everyone blocked, do your job, the first down is gained......they didn't do their job, they got beat individually

two things blow a play up......the scheme was bad (didn't have enough players to block what the defense ran, etc).......or players got beat

here, players got beat

look, the guy can only scheme so much with the line that he has.......honestly the fact that they are still developing Maye and gaining yards with the line and skill players they have, AVP is the only one on the staff i am not thoroughly disappointed in......i just can't find ANY fault with what he said here

So you are a Belichick fan and not a Pats fan, got it

In the end the offense has improved as the season has progressed. So AVP is doing his job. The defense has regressed.
