The trenches are what this offseason and draft is all about. Will Stanley leave Baltimore? Same for Jackson? Campbell is a beast at LT as well can't go wrong there. Then you have to ask what are the teams plans with Robinson and Wallace? I voted Carter personally.. and after the superbowl I'm sure that picture became clearer to Vrabel and Cowden.
Yes, we can go wrong choosing the 10th best prospect (Cambell) at 4, especially when he will likely be a top LG in the NFL rather than a LT.
==========
We need to pick the BPA (or every close) at 4. Or we could trade down.
==================
THE CHOOSE WHAT WE NEED AND IGNORE THE REST STRATEGY (circa 2024)
We needed a WR last year. We traded down a bit (I had no problem with that). We then had choices.
1) Reach 20 pick or so early for a potential future starter at LT.
2) Draft a WR that we didn't want (some waned McConkey, some didn't).
3) Reach 20 or so picks for the top WR on our board.
4) Choose among the BPA's available. The choices was varied; there were several DT's and DB's. The "consensus" pick was probably DeJean, although several others would have been fine.
=======
Yeah, I guess DeJean might have been a SAFE, SMART, and WINNING pick.
