What was the question at hand? HINT:

As of today (2/10), who do you *want* the Pats to draft first?

I *want* the best LT available in the draft. I do not care if you think taking that player at 4 is an over draft. I even told you Who I want to draft.

That is the biggest need this team has. Draft him. You do not have to compete with other teams for the players services. As of today that is the best way to fill that hole. It really is that simple.
I respect this take, I do, and generally I agree with you.

I just think, if you can get the same player at 12 that you can get at 4, and come away with more draft capital, or maybe an actual player, wouldn't you do that?

that all depends on how far you have to move and what the return is.

If the raiders at 8 want to jump the jets for one of the qbs? yes, you do it.

If a team in the 20's want to move up? no way no how am i making that deal.

Vrabel is going defense.

I want them to trade down to around 10-15, add another high 2nd rounder, and take whichever LT is there.
Neither Campbell or Banks is flawless. Even if it's Simmons - who may end up better - we can afford to trade down.

We just need a lot of shots at the target.

I wouldn't mind this. The question is more about if there is a worthwhile trade down.

Some team in the mid 1st like Atlanta might sacrifice their 2nd rounder to draft Abdul Carter. I could see it.

Carter is unlikely to be there unless two QB's go top 3.

It's probably going to come down to how much another team values Sanders or Graham.

Somewhere you need to consider where in the draft do the depth and value fall at positions of need. I prefer Carter or Graham at #4, but worry that another run on OTs shuts us out again if we wait. I don't expect to find a long term LT in free agency. It's draft or bust.

Free agency is deep with defensive linemen. I make this a priority.

The draft is deep with edge rushers. Plan to take one at or near #38 and another day 3.

Tackle is the priority.

I'll ask this again after the Combine to see if people have changed their minds.

You can make whatever assumptions you want here (how you think the draft should go, whether they trade up/trade down/stay put, etc.). Note the question is who you want them to draft, not who you expect them to draft.
I definitely WANT us to draft Carter or Graham.

That being said, if the draft were held today, we would and should
pick Banks.

Another way to say this is that if we don't sign a starting LT in free agency, we should draft Banks.

OL must be addressed in free agency we can't afford to rely on a rookie might even require a trade.

For values of Banks including "whichever of Banks or Campbell the team trusts more."

Do not care one iota if anyone thinks its an over draft. Do not care of Sean McVay laughs at us again.

This one is really simple. Football for Dummies simple. Football 101.

Get a Left Tackle.

Don't play games. Don't overthink it. Don't **** it up.

we need this more than a guy in the Foxy Lady needs one dollar bills.
I think part of the problem is that there is not a consensus on the #1 LT. Some say Campbell, but he might be a guard, some say if Simmons didn't get hurt he would be #1, and I have seen Conerly at #1 based on potential and some people think that Banks is #1 (I disagree with Banks as #1 so much).

There are 5, maybe 6 starting left tackles in this draft, and you should be able to get any of them between 8-20. Campbell is the best of that bunch, but it's not exactly a huge drop-off from Campbell to say, Membou or Conerly.

And like I said, none of them are Joe Thomas. It's basically 6 Matt Lights. 10 year left tackles who are fine.

We can have our choice of several Matt Light's with our 2nd round pick? NOT!
========
I certainly hope that this is true. I would simply stop worrying about LT.
======
If this were true, we should sign a starter like Robinson and a RT or swing and likely use our 2nd on a Matt Light.

Draft Simmons out of Ohio State. ACL tears aren't what they used to be. Once that knee is set, we are good for the next ten years in that position.

Its the biggest hole we have. Could give two flying ****s if you think its a "massive reach".

its that or welcome back our returning LT Vederian Lowe.
I am pretty sure it was a ruptured patella tendon

In the first round. Matt Light comps in the first round. No one said anything about 2nd round, although a couple of them might very well drop to 36, and if Hunter's there at 4, I'm totally fine with taking Membou at 36.

That's a Tomlinson/Brees draft.

I assume two will go in the top 3. If they don’t then there may be some ability to trade 4 to a team for a QB. Raiders at 5, Jets at 6 and Saints at 9 could all be potentially interested.

If they take a LT just for the sake of taking a LT even if there isn’t a player worth it then they should fire this whole regime before they even make it to training camp. Reaching to full one specific need when the entire roster is garbage just to appease a fan base is what idiotic, **** for brain front offices do with top 5 picks.
