If I'm not mistaken, the Pats will have their 1st, their 2nd & the Chargers 2nd, then their 3rd and the compensatory 3rd next year for losing Asante.

I like what they have done so far, they are rebuilding the linebacking core while banking a future pick. Training camp is going to be fun to watch next year with some talented youth at the lb spot.:rocker:

we won't know the compensatory pick(s) until the March meeting next year.

#3 for Samuel isn't a lock but it's a decent chance.

Its not a one for one thing, compensatory picks. Its a formula based on the total of who you signed vis-a-vis who you lost (I believe). So while guys we lost like Samuel will count (not sure Stallworth will....we declined an option).....guys we signed like Fernando Bryant, etc. will offset. So who knows what picks we'll get next year.

May get a 4 for Stallworth. Extra picks in 2,3 and 4. Board should be happy too.
Can't trade those comp picks.

Almost none of the Pats' FA signings this year have contracts large enough to qualify (Jason Webster might, but just barely).

In any case, if the Pats get a pick for Asante--which they almost certainly will--it'll almost certainly be a third (his contract is worth more than any contract that was given a third this year).

We get zippo for Stallworth. We declined to pick up his roster bonus. he wasn't a FA that we lost.
