Are you disappointed in the opportunities to better the O line and WR that were missed bunky? Fear not if they read this thread.

We said that last year and proceeded to do nothing to fix it. If we do the same again we'll be 4-13 again and Mitch won't be able to stop it.
We still have trades, draft, udfa, and so on. I am worried about the O-line, though. We now have - what? - ONE guy you can call a solid NFL starter. I'd address that before I look to make flashy moves at WR. More young QB's have been ruined by loust o-lines than by lack of flash on the WR core. You good WR's to compete at the highest level. You need a decent O-line to compete at all.

Ah yes!
A home made sausage and egg (over medium) and American cheese sandwich on a toasted croissant. A little black pepper. Ketchup as you like. Plus apple juice and a cinnamon brown sugar crumble coffee with cream.

All is right with the world again!

A decade is a little excessive, but it will set them back at least 2-3 years and they will be picking again at the same spot in 2026. It is significant because if Maye is any good, it will get closer to the expiration of his contract. The last thing you want to do is waste cheap rookie years like that.

Imagine had they hit on a couple of WR's during their 20 year run. That position has always been a weak point and they've had to resort to trades/FA signings. Their 6 Lombardi's turns into at least 8.

The last top flight WR they've drafted was Terry Glenn in 1996 when the HC didn't even want him.

Yes, their OL has been trash since 2022.
Agreed. I'd rather personally the team take thier time and continue to build the roster .. this just feels so similarly to 2001 the off season. 2021 felt like we were just adding names.. Henry and judon were excellent pick ups.. however alghlor was a bust signing.

I'm expecting a trade of some sort or a veteran at WR.. also with each passing day feels more likely we are taking at OT in the draft for sure.

Bakhtiari has played 25 games in the last 4 seasons, and is now 33 years old.

And I'm not trading the #4 overall pick for any player, without a good bit of draft capital coming back, that's crazy. I'd have a hard time justifying trading 38 for Higgins.
I think Bakhtiari is done. He was supposed to play last year. agreed, can’t trade 4 for anyone but like Chase

Just to share some sprinkles of hope, Alaric Jackson was a UDFA, Davis Andrews was too . So if good scouting and luck favors us we could possibly hit wr1 and LT in draft . We have 4 draft assets in top 100 and I am certain all 4 will be expended on offense . I believe the tackles available in draft might be slightly better than cam Robinson and leftovers.

If 2 QBs are taken we might get Hunter who could be our wr 1 and with just LT being a need , we might get lucky in trading up and drafting conerly or someone else. So keep the faith.

Josh is coming back to reinvigorate his career and has been a fantastic OC. He gets maye who is a potential top 5 QB. Pop and Boutte are on 3rd year and need to make sure they outperform to get their lifetime contract next season. Lowe knows if he can limit penalties and stay healthy , he can play at Jackson level and elevate his next contract.

Let's not underestimate the value of human motivation, will and effort . Sometimes that will make sum of parts larger than individual things and lastly there is renewed hope with new staff and new culture.

What happens if all teams call Cincy bluff and on draft Day only pats can offer Cincinnati a day 3 pick for Higgins and a contract exceeding 30 million aav?

Toofy, great post. You made a lot of sense. As we know the organization has/us evaluated everything. I look at the fact that brown and Jacobs being extended is saying there is a role for them here. Correct on lowe.. he needs to stop committing penalties and become a better run blocker.

Coaching Coaching and coaching... matters so much I'll never underestimate it like I did last season.

I'd like it if we made a run at Cooper at WR too.

Cousin, I think Chris Olave form the Saints can be got....How? They are still in the QB market. Perhaps Joe Milton and a swap for picks.Beware of the concussion problems he said he has overcome though. There pick #9 has a lot of possibilities.
If not .............Aiyuk.
Sorry. No breakfast just yet. More later.

Cousin!! Yes I've been in on Olave as well. I keep reading reports on rumors about Milton being moved! Milton has tremendous upside for sure. Seems like SF is doing a soft rebuild.. they traded Mason away. Thinking Aiyuk could likely be had for sure this time... the 3rd rounder we got for judon??

Isn’t Olave another concussion repeat offender? I thought his bell has been rung more than the Notre Dame carillon. Almost as bad as Tua’s ticket on the CTE express. Anyway, for some reason my impression is he lacks the most important ability, availability.

Will you have a discussion with substance or not? If not shut up.
Yes, drama queen. I do discuss quite a bit in my posts. Read them or shut up.

Cousin, I respect anyone who threw Olave's hat in the ring. I don't know how the compensation would fare. He is a 5 time concussion "survivor" going back to college. I would spin the bottle on this kid anyway. His tape is sweet. Don't the Saints need a future QB? We can trade Milton or arrange a pick trade.

Speaking of sweet. Breakfast today started with a banana for fresh fruit. Next if was scrambled eggs and a liberal amount of provolone cheese. The cheese does not overwhelm. Then added some black pepper to taste. The feature was large maple sausage links.......not the thin ones. These are browned and sliced. An English muffin buttered on the side. finished with peppermint tea and apple juice.

Where do I stand? Yes Olave is a hum-dinger for me. I would be in on Ayuck pending compensation. The Nines might take a lower pick if we take the whole contract ala Deebo.

We are sleeping on Charles Cross OT from the Hawks......but it will cost trade wampum. He's worth it.

Still like two who are coming back from injury in LT Humphries and Backtiari. This way we can plug them in until out 2025 "Rook" is ready.

Two WR to keep your eyes on are Michael Wilson of AZ wo had 47 receptions and 4 TDS. Still young with size and speed. The other is Packers Christain Watson....anothe injury victum but talent.

My sleeping pick up is Tre Hendrickson. Think of the possibilities?

These are players I would NOT be unhappy with.

Finally what's this constant buzz about Fred Waarner? Anyone know if hi is BS.?

Michael Wilson and tight end Sam la porta were my highest rated binkies pre draft . I am no draft junkie or college tape junkie , just watched few tapes and felt they had the best chance . And they worked out beautifully for teams . So I wouldn't mind Wilson getting here. He could be a solid Meyers part 2 .

When I an internet nobody can have beginners luck in hypothetical drafts, I sure hope the draft gurus and scouts in patriots place get some luck this year.

He'd fit in well with our starting QB then.

You should see a cardiologist, just in case.

I believe crestfallen is a more apperopos description of how I feel about the current state of our O-Line & WR talent (or lack thereof). Every time I think of drafting Polk & Baker on a “cute” trade down, rather than taking McConkey and actually having a true #2 (#1 in our case) receiver on board, it gets even more frustrating. Then when you realize we’d need a Cray Mainframe Computer just to keep track of all the O-Linemen we’ve drafted, signed, picked up on waivers, and traded for in the past two years in another feeble attempt to correct the thus far un-correctable - trust me, my fear has not subsided one iota even after reading this wonderful thread!

Stay the course.

# 4 pick for a LT. You acquire a foundation piece for the OL and get him on a rookie deal for 4 years. Do it.

Pick # 38 is used for a WR. Every single draft has stud WRs who emerge from the depths of the draft. Puka would be a 1st round pick today.

The Pats have 2 - 3rd picks # 69 and 77 to address other top needs like RB.
I totally agree.

The defense is shored up at all three levels and special teams will be fine.

This draft is all about offense, and that starts with the Offensive Line and wide receivers. They have RBs and TEs that can do the job if the offensive line can block somebody. OT is the best thing they can do at #4. The best plug and play tackle is Kelvin Banks, Jr. He is mocked in several drafts in the top ten,m so #4 is not a reach. If either of last season's rookie linemen can step into a starting role, the line could be at least average and not awful.

They should take a couple of WRs in this draft. The good thing about Drake Maye is that he can find guys while on the move, so people that keep working to get open as the play unfolds can be successful.

I'd like to see the Patriots get a genuine fullback in this draft. An extra blocker always helps and Josh McDaniels knows how to make the most of a fullback who catch passes out of the backfield.

They already have the fullback on the roster.
Sidy Sow.

This is hyperbole. Their run defense on the interior DL sucks. Their LB coverage sucks. Their safety coverage is not good. Landry posted a lot of sacks last year but all the metrics say he can't beat OTs one on one anymore which, if that holds true, means they still don't have anyone who can both play the run and generate pressure off the edge consistently.

They have a great CB duo. They have a good stable of interior pass rushers, GREAT if Barmore is back. They have some good run setting edges in Jennings/Landry and a good situational pass rusher in Chaisson. Their safeties will be weak in coverage but do other things well. Their LBs should be great vs. the run. I'm not saying there are no pieces there, but to say the defense is shored up at all 3 levels is crazy hyperbole.

Cousins, I have bit this tongue on some missed opportunities but I am letting her rip right now!

THE BAIT:
The ability to maneuver the #4 pick to gain more wampum.

C
Why isn't Garrett Bradbury on a plane right now to New England? He is still young. He is one of the best run blocking Centers in the NFL. Pass blocking needs work. He's a FA.

OT
The Seahawks LT Charles Cross. He has become a very good LT and broke out in 2024. He generated his best PFF grades to date, setting new high watermarks as both a run (77.9) and pass (81.3) blocker. He has one more year of
cheap contract until 2026 at $5,345mm. Obviously if you get him in the building you need to extend him. I think the Hawks are building draft pieces.

How?

Swap of picks. Give the Hawks #4 for their #18 and 4th Rounder #137.. The Trade value says that is 900 point differential or a first round number - along with WR Polk who is from Washington and the Hawks need weapons for Darnold. Polk might have a resurgence back in the northwest.

OT
Trevor Penning is considered to be a developing, "good" offensive tackle with potential, but not yet a finished product; while he shows flashes of strong play, he still has inconsistencies, particularly in pass protection, and needs further refinement
Again, The Saints need bodies. The need a QB. Perhaps Joe Milton is the young QB that pushed David Carr out the door.
Penning was a slow developing First Rounder. We would have to do a ballet with the Draft choices although not #4.

FA
"Former Green Bay Packers left tackle, David Bakhtiari, will be able to return in the 2024 season, per Ian Rapoport. Bakhtiari ended the 2023 season on injured reserve due to several knee surgeries to repair a cartilage issue" Now healthy as he sat an extra year, Bakthtiari has been adamant that his career is not over and he still desires to play professional football.

G/T
FA
Treven Jenkins
Another first round pick who has had injuty problems. Can play LT

DE
Trey Hendrickson. Yep I am all in. Swap of picks.

WR
Higgins. Talk to them about #4. Better than anyone in this Draft class.

WR
Ayuk. His price goes down every day.

Thoughts?
DW Toys

I am only giving up the #4 Overall Pick for an OT that's named Rashawn Slater or Joe Alt. Period! But, some of the other players are interesting.

You are far too generous if you actually believe this. We have our QB finally and you think we should expect to waste “years” of his career on a rebuild.

If we are still rebuilding two seasons from now we might lose him too. And I wasn’t referring to Vrabel, I am referring to Wolf and Groh who have been here years and still maintain positions of power with the draft and free agency.
I suspect this is Wolf/Groh's last year with the team (even if they nail this draft). Vrabel has his Personnel guy in Cowden.
