Are you all in on CB Travis Hunter at 4 (Hunter as a WR?)

He's a # 1 in this offense....
From all the hype.

The Legend grows by the day. Will Hunter play starting WR or starting CB? Perhaps both ? Deon Primetime loves all this publicity for his recruiting sales pitch.

Absolutely agree with you. Light was a 2nd rounder who protected the GOAT for 10 seasons.. like Campbell he too didn't have long arms.. light played with great technique and smarts... Campbell has the same traits.
Yes but defenses have faster edge guys now. Before they may face Julius Peppers or Dwight Freeney one to two times a season.
Now every team has one of these kind of athletes

Athleticism at Tackle is more a of need now than it was when Matt Light was playing.
Plus Brady was the master of moving in the pocket, making things easier for his tackles.

Very true. There's is where the fundamental and techniques came in for light.. for example look at lowe.. who has the arm length but no techniques and poor fundamentals.. Wolf even saying last camp he needs to learn how to use his length.. wtf.. and he's your starter

Hunter looks like he's got the tools to flourish in a McD offense - quick off the line and can get open in short/intermediate routes and the ability to make YAC. McD's offense never called for the QB to hold on to the ball for a long time.

McMillan would not make sense in a McD offense. Warren could flourish but him at #4 would be a reach.

For me it's still Carter if he's available. Hunter is next. And if these guys are not there, trade back get more picks so you can get multiple OLs.

We don't need him to play corner except maybe on a handful of occasions like we use Marcus Jones... he's needed at WR more than anything... Hunter will have to adjust his mentality really hone in on being a route runner to have any lasting success in the NFL.

Hunter and Carter probably both go top 3 and we still won't go LT because they all suck. I'd Rather McMillan, Warren, or Jeanty.
Have you spent any time evaluating this draft?
The left tackles don’t suck at all, there is simply a shortage of them. I would take any of the 6 left tackles in this class. Campbell, Membou, Banks, Simmons, Zabel, or Conerly. They aren’t instant hall of gamers, and a couple May move inside, but that’s normal, but that doesn’t mean they are busts.

For me its simple at 4. Hunter>Carter>Trade Back>Campbell (Try him at tackle and if it doesnt work he moves to guard)

I don't know if I'm "all in", but I wrote this a few weeks ago...
I was a hard no on [Hunter at 4] a month ago. But, the more you consider it, it may become one of the best "can't miss" picks in this draft. Reason - if you start him at WR in minicamp, and even to TC - and he falls behind, or can't do what you need as a WR1... you have a great chance at having him be a CB of the future"
EDIT - or, after Davis leaves in 2 years, or Gonzo prices out as a FA. He could also be a KR. So, for the value, you're getting an athlete can provide multiple positions of skill. Worth a high 1st rounder.

Light was a Super Bowl winning starting caliber LT that started as a rookie and played for 11 seasons. You take that every time if you can get it.
Light was nothing special. More than half the LTs in the league would have won with Brady at QB.

Brady is the GOAT at maneuvering in the pocket and narrowly avoiding the pressure.

Brady made an ave oline look much better.

I would be happy with a Matt Light in the 2nd rd, just like where the Pats got him

Matt light was underrated.. your right playing with brady made a huge difference.. 10 year stater at the position is nothing to down play.. we just need stability at LT.. had verderian lowe been steady or at least average at LT we wouldn't be in a situation where we so badly need one.

As bad as this team needs Campbell... I'm thinking if hunter's there we can't pass on him.. his abilities at WR are more needed than CB.. Vrabel played on both offense and defense too during his career so I'm sure he's intrigued by hunter...
The draft is about BPA to find starters and All Pros. Hunter is WR1 and we will solve LT by adding a TE to chip the opposing DE until R1 2026 when we pick a LT. Also maybe a level 2 guy this year like Trapilo greatly improves LT and allows us to get by. In the meantime we have an All Pro at WR.

If there was a LT like J Alt it is a different discussion. The latest mock by Todd McShay has Will Campbell at #12.

Everyone agrees Hunter is Top 3 or 4. Todd McShay's latest mock has Will Campbell at #12. Hunter is the pick because the other options are clearly flawed.

If that is meant to be a ringing endorsement for selecting a LT at #4, your missed the mark.

You make a good point there One... I forgot we did have years where we had the TE chip block with the LT.. is why I like bell to have a role this season doing that.. if there was a way we could get Hunter and Campbell boy would that be a great draft..

Nope.
Shiny Toys are useless when your QB is being carted off the field.
LT in first round

I tend to agree, OL first. The problem is desperately needing improvement both at OT and WR. I hope they have the opportunity to trade down for at least two early picks, but It wouldn't bother me if they stay at four and decide the BPA is a receiver.

Hunter intrigue's me. I think his value is because he was a dual threat in College
That will not happen in the pro’s full time. I don’t think he is a top of the draft WR. Those go to tall Franchise WR’s
I like Campbell out of all the LT’s. I know his arms are a bit small. He has played in the SEC for 4 years at LT at a high level
I also would like to move down a little if we think he will be there. Otherwise just pick him at 4
Also want someone like Trapilo later
We need to attempt to solve this issue
This is a 2-3 year build. Would rather have Maye protected with sub par WR’s to throw to than the other way around

He’s the best player of the draft, you don’t trade out of that. If he’s there you run to the podium and hope no one notices he’s still there.
But but but he mayyy be a diva. lol.

Stel, you couldn’t have said it any better. I could care less if the guy interviews well or not.

I'd just go Hunter>Trade Back

Jared Verse went #18 last year. Abdul Carter isn't close to that.

I'm not a draft junky but I've looked at a bunch of mocks and projections. From what I have learned Campbell will be a LG in the NFL, Membou is a RT, one of the other guys is coming off a significant injury, and the other 3 are late first round or even second round prospects. They might all turn into decent players but none of them seem to be worthy of a top 5 pick and possibly not even a top ten pick. Not sure how we could take any one of them and feel like we definitely filled our LT for week 1.

Of the group I am most intrigued by Membou but if he can't transfer to the left side then he just sits behind Moses until he's ready and we still have Lowe on the field and no Hunter or McMillan.

The Pats will not solve everything in one year. The pick at #4 is Hunter if available because he is so much more highly rated than any LT prospects. If Hunter is not there at #4, it becomes anyone's guess.
